Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Once a nice quality sushi place, now a bus group catering low level sushi establishment. I used to visit this place often for over 15 years. After covid, they lost their standard and now not worth even a visit. Quality always suffers when you cater...to large groups. I could not even get a counter seat when I visited recently. All seats were reserved for a large group. This is despite the fact that the store has a no reservation policy for 1F counter seats. I was forced to eat in B1 table seat where you could not even look at the fish to determine quality and forced to order sushi on paper. This is lowest level of Sushi restaurant procedure. I would avoid, sushizamai all together as all their stores seems to share the new approach. So many decent Sushi place in Tokyo. Absolutely no need to go to Sushizammai anymore. Avoid.More

Yes, it’s for sure one of the top rated places in the area. You can’t possibly go wrong if u decide to eat here. Prices are fair and the portions are tasty. It’s worth the wait in line.

This a friendly Sushi restaurant in the heart of the fish-market and was the original Sushizanmai restaurant (now a chain across the city). It has a great ambience and fast service. You are greeted by the chefs as you enter the restaurant. The food was...delicious and of course extremely fresh given it is from the fish-market. We were there in the early evening and managed to get a table, but it was busy so you might want to reserve. We went to the fish market and looked around at the various sushi establishments and we liked this particular one, as it looked very authentic. I ordered an assortment of pieces (which is easier if you can't decide what to order). The staff were very friendly and I highly recommend this place.More

The level of service seemed to vary around the place. We were lucky enough to sit at the sushi bar and watched the sushi chef prepare the meals, which was fascinating. He also introduced himself and was quite a jovial chap. However, the sushi itself...was disappointing. I was still full from a curry bowl at lunch so I ordered the salad, which didn’t taste as good as it looked. It was an Interesting experience but not a great mealMore

The wait for a table at around 2 PM on Saturday was reasonable and hostess that greeted us upfront was very friendly. We were traveling with a 5 month old therefore finding a restaurant that can fit a stroller is always a challenge. They were...very accommodating with our situation as they made enough space for the stroller. Food was pretty decent. Fish was fresh but the presentation of the sushi could be a little better. I believe our expectations were too high since we were in Tsukiji market area. Overall a great experience with excellent customer service.More

Long queue out the front but seemed to move quickly. Finally got inside and then had to wait again for somewhere to sit. Ended upstairs - quite nice. Ordered what I thought was tuna sushi and some tempura but what arrived definitely was not tuna...- and was gluey. The tempura however was delicious. Service was good. In hindsight - I would have preferred to stay in the nearby markets and have the street food.More

Honestly, their are many interesting street food all along the side at Tsukiji but we choose this one because it look like the most famous one from our own eyes base on the long queue and The Chef Mascot in front off the entrance. The...price is reasonable and quite expensive for some items like the Unagi or Uni (But the local shops nearby are available with the fresh quality and more cheaper). The taste is fresh...yes what did you expect from the raw fish?? If you feel really hungry, Please try to taste at the shop nearby first because as I already mention about the long queue, so we had to wait for 20 mins for all 5 menu ready to be served. I have seen some branch of this restaurant is 24hrs. Maybe that time is good if you don't want to wait for long time.More

Tried this restaurant as the restaurant we were hoping to try had unbelievably long line. On a whim we decided to try this restaurant. There was only a few minute wait and the menu was in both English and Japanese. The sushi and sashimi was...delicious and fresh. My set came with uni (sea urchin) I have never been able to enjoy it in the USA, but for some reason the freshness made a difference, and I actually enjoyed the uni. The sashimi is delicious. One of my daughters was too full after snacking all morning in the outer market and so ordered the roasted/marinated cod. It was fantastic. I recommend the roasted cod if you have someone that does not like raw fish. The prices all seem to be relative competitive but as several other reviewer have said, no need to wait in line. As long as you choose a reputable restaurant the sushi should be fresh and delicious. Sushizanmai Honjin did not disappoint! I hope and wish all of the outer market proprietors well after the move of the commercial fish market. Tsukiji is a gem of a market and I would hate to see its demise.More

This was my second time here and I have to say they have improved tremendously. Their sashimi was super fresh and other dishes were also very delicious and nice presented. The wait was also not long. Clean washroom, larger restaurant comparing to other sashimi restaurant...in the area. Price was also very reasonable. Highly recommended!More

After reading all positive messsges about this sushi chain, my expectations were extremely high. I liked it here and prices are very reasonable for Tokyo. However sushi was not surprising or ohtstanding. Just a nice experience!

Probably the best place to go for sushi and sashimi near Ginza. During my trip I went there twice because the service is exemplary and the fish is top quality. The chefs at the counter are very friendly!

I find the sushi quite delicious, its not the very best or the freshest. But it is still considered quite delicious! The reason of my 5 star rating is because of the operational time. 24 Hours / up to 2:00am in some place is a...life saver! Not to mention its able to keep up the taste despite the late opening hours. Went to Sushizanmai in Asakusa & Tokyo. Both have the same standard. Would recommend :)More

Excellent sushi, an amazing variety, melt in the mouth fatty tuna. Great service and friendly chefs too. 2 people for a plentiful dinner with 2 beers came to approx 5000 yen so excellent value. We'd go back regularly if we lived in tokyo!

There are many Sushizanmai restaurants in Tokyo and I have been to several of them. The service and quality is consistent across them all. I prefer to sit at the counter where it is easy to order from the sushi chef and he can place...the sushi right in front of you. Menus are easy to follow with English. You order using a form on which you tick your preferences and the number of pieces of sushi. Then hand it to the sushi chef. It is all delicious and just so fresh you will never be satisfied with conveyor belt sushi again. Needless to say I won't buy containers of sushi from the high street chains.I usually wait for my fix when I'm in Tokyo, or if I'm desperate from a genuine Japanese restaurant. Oh, many of the restaurants are open 24 hours. I've had sushi at one of the Tsukiji restaurants near the fish markets for the freshest of the fresh early in the morning. Green tea is included.More
