My wife and I stayed 2 nights in this immaculate property, situated on a 100ha working farm, the bedrooms forming an upper storey around an open internal courtyard. The advertised bedroom balcony was of the Juliet-type, divided into two, so no chance of even getting half a chair on each side. However it did help to have a couple of French windows to allow cool air to enter the bedroom. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, though it does help to speak Spanish. Without it, some instructions, such as how to operate the electronic gate at the end of the driveway, would be very difficult to understand. The breakfasts were simple and Spanish in style, but individually served. The mark of a good establishment, for me, is whether a second cup of coffee is offered at breakfast time - it was - and our request for the biggest cup possible was adequately met! The big drawback for us was the lack of a restaurant for an evening meal. This made it necessary to go out into Daimiel (some 10 km away) to eat, something that we are never keen on doing after a long and active day, especially given the Spanish tendency to start serving at 9pm or thereabouts. Daimiel is not exactly blessed with decent restaurants. The Cortijo forms a very good base for naturalists visiting the Tablas de Daimiel.

Room Tip: I can't imagine there is much difference, but I always ask for a quiet situation.

The whole experience we had in this lovely Cortijo, and indeed in the local town of Daimiel was unforgettable. Simply brilliant, on a Quixotic and Panchoesque scale. A dream or idyll, yet real at the same time, a vineyard surrounded by landscapes rich in crops and fruit, a cyclists' and nature lovers' paradise. The facilities are first class, but note this is not a traditional hotel. The proprietors are too busy in the fields to do evening meals, but they allow you to bring your food into their charming wooden breakfast room. Yet frankly there are beautiful spots and pergolas around the Cortijo where you can partake of your queso manchego curado, jamon iberico, y vino(from one of several deli's in Daimiel). This is a homely, magnificent resting place, the superior double is superbly quiet but lacks nothing -one night is not enough here to explore all the surrounding areas. We travelled out of our way to return here for a further two nights in midweek (excellent rate in May 55euro but the Friday rate of 75 e is still incredible!!)- by out of the way I mean I travelled from Sucina(Murcia) to Daimiel on Tuesday 19th May stayed overnight here, but had to travel to Merida on Wednesday to pick up my own car which had broken down there the week before! But once the car was picked up at 5.15pm we headed back here and arrived around 8.00pm staying another night and driving back to Sucina on the 21st. This was a total distance of 1251 miles, just over 2000 kms. Don Quijote was mad, some say, my friends know I'm mad!. we had time to sample some bars outside the town which were great-lots of ice cold estrella and pork tapas! Daimiel is a lovely town, this was a really unforgettable time! Un abrazo Manoli, gracias Daimiel, hasta la proxima!
