The Can Ferran is set in the pine forests an easy 30 minute or less drive from Barcelona and is just a couple of minutes off the C16 road at exit 16. It is a lovely restaurant catering for a very large number of people, perhaps too many. They do not take reservations on public holidays but I was assured at other times , they do. Neither may I add, as we found out when coming to pay the bill,do they accept credit cards so be sure to take plenty of cash. Pricewise it is not expensive, ( nor cheap) but the let down of this restaurant is the very average quality of its food. Our party of four, two locals from Barcelona, a Brazilian and myself were unimpressed with the food. The cannelones was cooked and brought in a huge tray to serve about fifteen people and the waiter went around the tables serving four pieces to every customer who had ordered the dish. My salad to start was something from the 1970`s, just lettuce, tomato and onion with a couple of olives, priced at 5.50 euros. Main courses were equally uninspiring. My main was a plate of grilled vegetables which was served cold and all the vegetables were soggy and chewy. Desserts also disappointed. You didn´t need a chef to prepare the dishes we ordered .This was eating, not dining. It was more akin to a canteen both in the collective way of serving and the quality of the dishes. Wines were reasonably priced. We ordered Protos Verdejo at 13 euros, quite excellent. Service was friendly and despite our disappointment with the food, but being a sunny winters day, we enjoyed ourselves .This place clearly works well for parties where food is of secondary importance. The Masia in Sant Cugat which we frequent from time to time is far better foodwise. You may be disappointed with Can Ferran if you are a foodie.
