We loved our stay at Can Carbo. It is an oasis of tranquility and beauty near Peralada, a half hour from France, an hour from Gerona, hour and a half from Barcelona. Spacious, luxurious, tastefully decorated rooms, with nice firm beds and a big shower. Scrumptious breakfast buffet with various local specialties, fresh coffee and tea, and eggs any way you like them. We especially enjoyed the typical British wit and ironic humor of Michael, the owner, whose generosity and hospitality made our stay very special.

What a delightfully peaceful oasis! Beautifully appointed rooms, surrounded by prettily planted courtyards. Delicious breakfasts with a witty host. He gave great suggestions of local beaches, walks & eateries. Lovely countryside and the best birdsong we have ever heard.

We wanted a place near some wineries on our drive from Barcelona to Costa Brava and settled on this place. It is very close to a couple wineries we visited that we loved. It is quite off the beaten path so we're thankful to have had GPS on our phones. The nearby town is quaint, but not much to see. We ate a recommended restaurant that was good and Michael gave us a great suggestion for a drive on our way to Costa Brava that ended up being one of the highlights of our trip - through some very mountainous terrain with unbelievable views. Also led us to a cute seaside town - something del sol.

Breakfast was included and very good. The property is spread out so we didn't even realize there were other people there. It's located on a working farm I believe so it's peaceful, but not particularly picturesque. At least compared to some of the surrounding area - mountains/vineyards/etc.

What a find ! Entering through huge rustic door you are overwhelmed with the secret oasis feel, beautiful plants and artifacts carefully placed the courtyard then flows to individual bedrooms housed in charismatic building service... Nothing is too much trouble Michael even set a table under the naya for us to eat breakfast with our two great Danes due to the warm weather we didn't want too leave them in our vehicle. just perfect we will be back.

This is our fourth visit to Can Carbo over the past 8 years. Much has been achieved to further improve the guests stay, and the shrubs and plants have grown, making the visit even more restful.
We have not visited in early summer before, and it was wonderful to wake in the morning to the sound of so many birds, and to see such a variety of birds.
The rooms continue to be maintained to a very high standard, and are vast and comfortable.
One of the questions below asks if this a trendy hotel and another if it is quaint ?
Can Carbo defies description, and is unique,, it may be trendy to some and quaint to others, but remains Can Carbo.
Lastly we thought over the years that Peralada, has itself improved, and found more to do and see in the Village.

Room tip: The rooms with the views over countryside to Peralada, will appeal more to most guests
