7 of us visited this great place for a casual Italian evening meal. It was set in a great location, just off the square. The host, fifth generation owner, was welcoming.
The food was good as was the tour to the cellar to choose your wine.
The owner spoke pretty good English, although we did make effort with our very poor Italian! He gave us a history of the restaurant and the local area, pointing out numerous things about its involvement in WW2.
All in all a great experience I'd recommend at reasonable prices.

6 of us visited this restaurant late last night. No room to dine outside so we sat inside and were not disappointed. A very old building with great history. We were invited to look at the wine cellar and its delights. The food was amazing. Lots to choose from. We all had different options and all 6 of us cleared our plates. When it came to desserts we were offered such variety. The older gentleman really came into his own telling us all about the different merengue desserts and how best to eat them! All in all an enjoyable evening in a lovely environment. Good service and price. Highly recommended.

Why would you share a discovery like this with the rest of the world when instinct and selfishness move you to keep such a gem to yourself? And yet such excellence surely deserves recognition; moreover there are other favorable reviews the reader may consider here. I count such memorable dining experiences on the fingers of my hands.

A beautiful old osteria run by the same family for several generations - a place for a glass of wine or a light meal. The problem is that the glass of wine comes with nothing unless you pay for some crisps or some salami. This is virtually unheard of in Italy! Normally your aperitivo comes with a selection of snacks from olives to more sophisticated offerings included in the price of the glass of wine. The food is ok but not really substantial. Some of the family obviously enjoy their job whereas others look as if they would rather be anywhere but there! A strange place but worth a visit to admire the interior.

We stopped here for a quick dinner our first night in San Giovanni in Persiceto, a real foodie town. The food at Bergamini was so fantastic, and the restaurant so homey, that we went back for Sunday lunch, too. Hidden away on a side street, it might not be the first restaurant you come across, but it is well worth a visit.

All dishes were fantastic, from the pasatelli to the cotaletta alla bolognese. The staff are all family, from the father down to the chef/son! Although we don't speak Italian, one of the sons does speak a little, so between us, we managed.

Our big Sunday lunch, with 4 courses, wine, and coffee, was 75 euros for two, which we thought was fabulous value. Please give this place a try!
