Review of The Haven Hotel
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 31 Jul 2024
We stayed here for two nights , we just checked out this morning, we were both repeat customers before the fire , every three weeks we were there , the room we were in was fabulous , the food lovely too my only concern as a bank employee is that the room cost was removed from my husbands card without his knowledge, he went to reception to pay and it was already taken from his card and he was not notified first , we booked this over the phone , not through booking.com ..

Stayed here for a family get together and I think this is a beautiful old world hotel. Our rooms were spotless and very comfortable beds . Breakfast was excellent plenty of food and coffee top ups
My only complaint would be that the receptionist/ manager ( unsure exactly) was quite unfriendly, a blonde lady in black, she seemed to be in mamangememt msybe ? Anyway when checking out I barely got a thank you and I observed her speaking in quite a snippy tone to My family member telling them they were at the wrong bar, I understand maybe she was tired but really that kind of attitude is awful , I would not tolerate it in My own work place and it got to me if am honest . There is a way to speak to people I would imagine it's basic hospitality training, I think she just needs to put a little more thought into her approach to paying guests
I would have given 5 stars only for negative experience with that one staff member
Rest of staff were great
Otherwise I love this hotel , it is a very special place in a beautiful setting and will certainly be back

Just dropped in for a bite to eat with family.
Service was good.
Menu looked good.
Kids meal was nice.
I ordered fish of the day.
Unfortunately completely tasteless and bland and dripping in water/oil. The stir fry veg were so soggy and tasteless too. I actually had to drain off all the water. The veg was just a few peppers and one tiny tiny broccoli !
Very disappointing for €22. Chips nice.

Wife had the chowder. Pretty bland too.
Great setting but food should be so much better.

Room tip: Avoid fish of the day

Stayed for two nights on the the 30th of June and the 1st of July 2024 and had an excellent experience. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We ate both nights in the Hotel and the food was excellent and the service was outstanding. The views of the sea from the Hotel were breathtaking. We will return in the future.

Just returned from a wonderful stay at The Haven. The rooms were excellent and the food was delicious. The breakfast in particular was outstanding. We went as a family group and met up with family who live in Waterford so it was the perfect location for us all to get together. The grounds were delightful too and the view over the sea was wonderful.

Lovely little spot, hope to stay at some point, beautiful view overlooking the sea. Food was lovely, beautiful fresh fish. Staff very nice, friendly & helpful. As a wheelchair user accessibility was good, shame to see everyone using the accessible toilet. Bar was nice, chairs a little uncomfortable. Definitely worth a visit, look forward to going back, I believe the roast beef is one to try 😊
