Was recommended this hotel that has no beach of its own adjoined.Upon arrival,a Receptionist called Catherine,was very good.Room is well furnished with adequate temperature control for 37-39C,i.e. fan,AC,strong signal Wi-Fi. Bathroom twin-tap swivels(poor fitment);bedside lamp switch does not keep light on.Half-board booking--a very limited menu choice as they want to up-sell the bar menu.Over an hour+1/2-3/4 wait to be served.As landing and stairway lights are switched off at 6am,do not trust any porter to fetch a heavy case as they break wheels bumping down the stairs--require a new suitcase buy at £70 nearby Tusky's Mall,Nyali.

Restaurant staff serve meals pre-chosen as is going through motions.Have to be called to serve condiments,or table candle light.

Despite having already paid for room,Receptionist kepi quiet when checking-out on wrong date one day early,so they could make a double-profit by re-selling room.General Manager just offered usual 'sorry' but no reduction/rebate on bill for Receptionist silence or porter breaking wheels off suitcase.

Beach is accessible only via a myriad of 'massage parlours', or hawkers along a dusty road and narrow lanes. Beware of using 'sharks' offering tuk-tuk or taxi services. Open to being fleeced or taken for a ride! Use either an Uber or local contact as Wi-Fi is good to use Net

Very nice locally owned hotel in swahili style. Nice room and beatyfull decor on all hotel. Everything was clean and well maintained. All staff was competent, smiling and helpfull. We stayed there for five days and went on a three day safari and then came back for one more night. It was like comming back to our new african famely. It was our first week in a 3 week trip on the Kenya coast and we felt very welcome. We stayed there for chrismas and on cristmas morning santa had been at our door with presents. Some hand made figures with our names cut into and some sweets. The hotel is located a three minutes walk from a nice beach and just outside the gate is the real africa with poor people living in sheds, but we felt safe and had no problems. The hotel itself has good security with guards at the gates at all times. The breakfast buffet was fine and started early. On the hotel area was a restaurand and bar with very reasonable prices. Could be a little noisy from fotball on tv or livemusic some evenings. Nice pool area with sunbeds and good service. All in all a very good start on our trip.

I stayed at Kahama for a weekend after Christmas to get the feel of the beach on my Kenyan holiday. Good place. A little walking distance to the beach too. If you ever stay in room 204, I left a little note behind one of the wall frames.
