Galtur is a quiet village away from the testosterone fuelled bars of Ischgl with ski runs a short bus ride away. The Alpenhotel is a perfect base for exploring both ski areas, it is spotlessly clean and has everything you would want from a small hotel. The staff are friendly, helpful and extremely professional. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are spacious enough and the boor room keeps your ski boots dry and warm. The outstanding feature of the hotel is its food, we had Austria based friends join us for dinner and they said it was the best restaurant food they'd come across in Austria, testament enough.

Very comfortable hotel, great views from the room, excellent food... I particularly enjoyed the breakfast menu. Cake and sandwiches available in lounge every a afternoon - excellent. Spa area really nice at the end of a hard days skiing. Near to the bus stop and ski hire shops. Only gripe is that they charge for tap water with the evening meal, about €1.45, a bit unnecessary.

Excellent well run hotel with good food. I have been there four times and write much the same things each time. Worth letting everyone know how good it is
Visiting with Crystal, you do get dumped off the coach at the bottom of the hill with your luggage. Some sort of luggage transport up to the foyer and back on the return should be organised. Reps not much in evidence, being based in and focussed on Ischgl. Doesn't bother me, but...
None of this is the responsibility of the hotel.

We had a week's skiing holiday here in January. It was a very comfortable hotel, excellent food at breakfast, afternoon tea and evening meal. We were lucky enough to have a fabulous view from the bedroom window.
Staff very friendly and attentive. Only downside was the lack of jagermeister!

I stayed here with my wife at the very start of January 2016 for the purpose of cross-country skiing. The hotel overall provided an excellent experience and seemed to be run by the same family that had opened it originally in the 1970s. This likely explained why the hotel was very well-organised.

In terms of location, the hotel is just a three minute walk to the centre of Galtur, which contains the tourist information office and the bus stop for the ski bus. Also, just across the road from the hotel is the entrance point for the cross-country trails, making this very convenient.

We had a room on the first floor at the front of the hotel which was spacious and well-maintained. It even had a small snug area by the window which provided a panoramic view and was very pleasant to hit in. At night, the hotel was very quiet meaning that it was certainly possible to get a good nights sleep.

The hotel had a ski room and boot rooms with heated rails and conveniently had a separate entrance for when one was wearing ski kit so bypassing the foyer. There are spa facilities at the hotel and while comparatively small are nonetheless perfectly formed, with sauna, steam room, whirlpool and relaxation rooms. There is not swimming pool, but it is just a five minute walk to the large municipal pool to the rear of the hotel.

The food at the hotel was of a very good standard, while the dining experience was pleasant without being excessively formal. Beside the restaurant is a large lounge to retire to in the evening as well as to eat the complimentary cakes and snacks in the afternoon. The one unusual aspect about the food offering was the lack of a toaster to toast bread at breakfast time. This was not a significant problem, but was simply rather unexpected.

I would certainly stay at this hotel again, with the cross-country skiing certainly being worthwhile, particularly the high-altitude trails.
