The Farmer's Daughter is well worth a visit in Howick - it's worth detouring here on route to the Midlands. Be sure to book ahead of time in order to secure your spot. The food is beautifully presented and delicious. The coffee is great! The decor is quirky and will surely be the topic of some conversation. Great views over the Umgeni Valley from the property.

I took my grown up daughter for dinner to the Farmer's Daughter on Valentines night, two weeks ago, as we both needed cheering up. What a wonderful innovative evening! On arrival, we were welcomed with bubbly and a warm greeting.
We helped ourselves from the superb harvest table of foodie delights all evening. The movie theme continued with complimentary paper bags of popcorn and home-made fudge. As the evening became more chilly we were wrapped in picnic rugs and served delicious mugs of cocoa, while we watched "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" A memorable evening-thank you to the wonderful staff.

New town. New place. Quaint, with interesting decor. Awesome looking lemon meringue in a jar. We had a baby chicken with croquets and Brie in phyllo pasty. Nicely presented and tasting as advertised. Well worth a second visit. And we did.

I stopped here for a coffee and cake after I had visited the falls. I loved the quirky, country style decor. They have a great selection of cakes to choose from.I went for carrot cake and it was very good and large enough for 2 people. The flat white was excellent, and they have a great coffee blend! They also serve you a nice jog of iced water with mint and lemon - a nice touch.
The lunch menu also looked interesting, especially with the home baked breads, but unfortunately i had eaten a very large breakfast.
Definitely one to seek out if you are in the Midlands.
