We booked a table for 4 . The menu was nice . The fire was lit and we sat by it. We all enjoyed the meal and the ambience. The goats cheese pear and walnut salad was absolutely gorgeous. The only minus and I hate to say it the damp smell and a drain smell as we entered . Very old pub though so probably the weather had something to do with it. Very clean and lovely staff . Will definitely go back as want to explore the lovely countryside views

We needn’t have booked on a Wednesday evening as it was very quiet so had the choice of tables and attentive friendly staff. Enjoyed a very good meal including delicious steak and kidney pie, plaice, crispy squid and scotch egg. My mother requested a children’s portion which was also fine for her. We were also grateful to see a wood burning stove lit even though there were few punters in. However, the overwhelming fusty smell that greeted us on arrival almost made us cancel the booking. The smell then turned into disinfectant and persisted. If you are sensitive to smells and it’s an importantly part of the ambience of a place, be warned. Hopefully it is not a permanent problem as this is a lovely pub serving good food.

We were a party of four, My partner and i and our two grandchildren ( 5 & 10) we had reserved a table and were very pleased to find we were seated to the right of the front door near the roaring open fire,
The lady serving us was very pleasant and helpful, asking if the children wanted their main with our starters and other considerate requests.
The food arrived promptly, my whitebait starter, although on the bar snack menu rather than the dinner menu, was provided with no fuss or bother and was hot and crispy.
The children were offered their own menu with a good choice, our menu was Italian influenced and again a very good choice.
My partners spaghetti with seafood was, hot tasty and greatly enjoyed.
I had the Lobster ravioli with baked cherry tomatoes, this was really good, much more lobster filling than I expected and the bisque served with it was superb, the owner said that they made the bisque from scratch and this was certainly borne out by the freshness and subtle flavour. Only comment, if your'e really hungry have a starter and certainly some bread so you don't leave any sauce.
Good freindly service, lovely food, smashing pub, what's not to like.
(Why four stars not five? nowhere gets five, yet!)

A comfortable location and good staff. We recently hired 'The Barn' section of the site out for a private function and it was top quality. The staff where more than happy to help all the guests that attended the function where happy too. No faults anywhere.
