My wife and I stayed for 3 nights to attend a wedding event. The hotel is majestic with large garden, swimming pool and vineyards. As a gardening hobbyist, I had expected better care and maintenance of the greens, flowering plants and fruit trees. There's so much room for improvement all round. I observed last minute efforts to spruce up the garden and pool.
The rooms are large, clean and comfortable with top quality toiletries.
Breakfast is good but service can be relatively slow for cooked to order selection.
We had a great pizza night for the guests on the eve of the wedding dinner. The alfresco wedding dinner for about 70 pax was well managed with good food.
Nicola, the owner,is a charming lady who is ever ready and keen to assist whenever possible. She's also a great supervisor over her staff.

We are really pleased you enjoyed the wedding. It was not an easy weekend to manage as the weather was not always on our side, and there were lots of last minute adaptions to make on top of the normal last minute activity you mentioned. Weddings run very differently to the normal ‘day to day’ of the hotel. The ‘sprucing up’ you highlighted is actually something we do for every wedding. We want la villa to look its very best on a wedding day, so we cut and hoover the lawns, move plants around based on their bloom cycle, deadhead up to the last moments and hoover all the pathways around the property. And that’s just the beginning. Mornings after weddings are just as demanding as everyone in the hotel tends to turn up (very) late, at the same time and want lots of fresh cooked breakfast and coffee. It’s how it is, and given the state of the hangovers, tends not to be an issue as no-one is hurrying anywhere.

With regards to the garden, we designed and began planting it from scratch 15 years ago. Today, it is quite unique in the area in terms of the variety, style and scale of planting and we have visitors who turn up just to tour the garden. Given the huge investment in it, we tend it very carefully. Every year brings its own challenges and as a keen garden hobbyist, you will no doubt be aware that this year has been the hottest in history with frequent severe storms and hail reeking havoc in gardens and vineyards across our region. Despite this, we have been fortunate not to lose a single plant and our one fruit tree, a fig, is in the best of health and still feeding our breakfast table.

Coming back after many years we were delighted to find the place broadly unchanged and still 5*. Now they offer a four course dinner every night (Apart from Chef's night off) at just shy of Euro50 per head; there is lunch and a snacks offering too and a good breakfast with hot dishes if you wish. Nicola has many good local wines to enjoy. It means you can just stay up the hill and "chill out".

There are more staff now and I want to compliment them on doing a really good job. Very helpful and nothing too much trouble like taking cards home and posting them for us en route.

The great thing about La Villa is its peaceful laid back style. We were in school holidays and had one Belgian family who shouted a lot in and by the pool so you might want to avoid school holidays. Ah modern parenting!!

Dinner is four courses with drinks from 19.30 and sit down dinner around 20.10. Our first night it all went well and the food was good and the setting just lovely.

The last night we had a couple who turned up for drinks at 20.25 when everyone else was seated at their tables. With one chef all must eat the same dishes at the same time. Fortunately at 20.45, the man had gone for a smoke and I was able to join him and tell him we were all waiting for them to sit down to eat. The effect was that only us and one other couple stayed around to 22.50 for the semi-freddo dessert. I discussed this with Nicola and suggested that her staff tell late arrivals that they are late and that if they want drinks they must have them at the dining tables and also not hold service to all the rest up. It is possible the late couple were oblivious and had not been told the timetable and team approach.

La Villa Hotel is the place to go to feel instantly relaxed and in love with the world. The perfect place to chill, explore, listen to the bees in their fabulous gardens, and eat delicious food. The staff and hosts strike the perfect balance between sharing friendship and advice, with leaving you to it. If you're lucky enough to visit, you'll plan to return again and again.

This was our second visit and everything is just as perfect in every way as we remembered - a very special place. If you want peace, harmonious surroundings, charming service, good food and stylish interiors in the country house style you couldn’t do better.

This was our third (and my fourth) visit over a period of three years.
In all respects this establishment has maintained exceptionally high standards.
It is dog friendly too.
In my view the best room is No 1, which shares a terrace with the room next door and is light and airy.
I am sure the room above this would also be great, and possibly benefit from views from the windows.
Great shower and toiletries and very high standard(as you’d expect) of cleanliness.
Excellent courtyard area that is used for al fresco dining and is a great place to enjoy a pre dinner drink.
Fixed menu is billed separately and has flexibility around allergies and dislikes and changes daily.
Wine list is very extensive and the owners can provide excellent assistance with deciding what to have.
Beautifully maintained gardens.
