This place have a great view of the beach. It's possible to watch the sunset from the hotel. There's a stunning views of the beach. The breakfast is very very diversity, and delicious. The rooms are clean, but not so beautiful. The people who work in there is gentle and nice.

Friends of ours were staying Varandas ao Mar for the weekend. My wife and I tried to book a room for one night (a Saturday) online but according to "Booking.com" and "Decolar.com", there was nothing available. As it turns out, Varandas ao Mar does not allow you to book online for Saturday night only. So we went there on the Saturday morning and booked one of many rooms over the counter.
After a dinner in the town center that evening, we arrived at Varandas ao Mar after midnight. At 06h00 on Sunday morning, we were awakened by terrible noises coming from upstairs. My wife called the front desk to enquire what the noise might be. The receptionist told us that the kitchen is located directly above our room (Room 214) and they have started to prepare breakfast that will commence at 07h30.
Even though we were told that they will speak to the kitchen staff to keep it down, the level of noise never subsided! We eventually packed our bags and drove 3 hours to get home and sleep.
At checkout, we confronted the Receptionist again but we were told by her that the Manager said that they would not be giving this matter any further attention.

Room Tip: Don't accept room 214

"Varandas ao Mar" means "Balconies at the Sea" in Portuguese. A rather weird name choice, since the vast majority of rooms have balconies that face the sides of this beachfront hotel. And that's a pity, since the beach is the best feature here - not too crowded even in a Holiday, with blue/green ocean and white, fine sand...

We were in a large group of divers, so it was a good choice - hotel is average, but so are the rates. But don't expect too much privacy or silence - you can hear everything that goes on in the next room, from shower/toilet to the sound of the TV!

Probably the best location in Arraial. The beach is ally beautiful and good for kids. Apart from the location we weren't that happy with the pousada. It seemed overpriced compared to a place like Buzios. Dark, smelly rooms. When we were there the hotel was almost completely deserted, yet they gave us the worst rooms (we booked through booking.com). When we complained they said they needed to keep the better rooms available in case some "drop-in guests" turned up. They were also deliberately trying to overcharge. We were travelling with 3 young children. One day at breakfast one of our kids did not eat so we brought 2 plain breadbuns with us. For this they charged us 14 reais!!! I have stayed at many pousadas in Brazil and have never experienced anything like this.
