With views overlooking abundant golden wheat fields and the sea, it felt truly tranquil. The room was spacious, clean & modern (upper apartment), and the hotel staff were friendly & helpful. It was a great point from which to explore the natural beauty of Rügen. Highly recommend as a destination in its own right, or if en route to catch the ferry to Sweden from Germany.

Ours was a modern, cozily furnished, spacious, bright & airy apartment with very comfortable beds, a clean, well-kept bathroom, sunny private terrace with wooden table & chairs, kitchenette with refridgerator, sink, kettle, cutlery & dishes; 2 complimentary bottles of mineral water. Everything spotlessly clean. We found it especially nice to be able to park our car right opposite our room (great for loading & removing luggage). There is private space in the entry to each apartment for bicycles. Everywhere you notice the personal touch & the breakfast buffet at the Wild Swan Restaurant just a few steps away is gorgeous. The Swan's atmosphere is pleasant & relaxed inside and out; personnel are friendly, open and attentive, service is superb & individual special wishes graciously fulfilled. We regularly enjoyed our evening meal there, too, as the delightfully varied cuisine is of gourmet quality, beautifully served & reasonably priced. The wellness area is beautiful; offerings & scheduling are pleasing. We stayed a week & became true fans!

Room tip: Ground level apartments have a terrace with garden views; those upstairs have a balcony allowing views of fields & nearby bay.

Way up north, this hotel (and Rugen Island itself) is well worth a visit. We approached guided by our satnav, perhaps not the best way as it was a bumpy dirt track, but we arrived ok. The hotel is small and built around a beautiful garden, with open farm land surrounding it. Our room was clean and spacious with a bit of a Scandinavian feel to it, very open and light filled. The bed was quite comfortable (probably latex) and the bathroom clean & simple. There was also a couch, a dining table and very small kitchen area. At night this would have to be one of the quietest hotels around, and you wake to the sound of a rooster (not a loud one !)
There is a restaurant with a menu that is small but more than adequate, (an English one is available), and a good wine list. The food is extremely good and well presented, and is also inexpensive. We ate there for dinner twice, and it was among the very best of our trip. Breakfast was very good as well.
Not much English is spoken but it was not a problem. Rugen is a great place to visit, and this hotel made our stay. Very highly recommended.

The Wilde Schwan is located in the middle of nowhere on Ruegen island, a short drive from the small village of Sagard. On turning into the area along what is a single track road which has seen better days, we were relieved by the appearance of the set of buildings which make up the hotel. Niceley kept grounds and attractive buildings are rather inviting. The staff speak enough English to cope with us, even with a little coaxing on both parts! The room, or should I say apartment we were allocated was very nice, very modern and well furnished. The bathroom was large with a very good shower, a small kitchen area with fridge and kettle, and a large room with bed, couch, tables and chairs, and plenty of room in between. We only stayed 2 nights, but it would be the kind of place to stay and make a full holiday, whether chosing to self-cater or not. We didn't eat in the restaurant other than breakfast, which was a typical European affair and very well stocked! I would love to visit again, and would recommend this to anyone staying in the area! The only thing to note is if you are a heavy Internet user, the tokens you are given on check in at the moment are limited to 500mb download, so streaming any evening entertainment or uploading the holiday snaps might be an issue, though I would like to think not a deal breaker.

We stayed here as part of a short trip to this part of Germany. This hotel is one of the best I have stayed at. Large modern room where you could sit outside and enjoy the garden. This garden is very well kept with a small stream and a pond. The hotel is in the country site and requires a car but is easy to find.
We ate in the restaurant the first evening and what a surprise. Really great food so we went back the next evening. Why drive when you can walk to great food.
I have to say that the staff was very friendly even though their English was very limited. Now I got a chance to practice my German.
This is a place to relax and we will go back next time we are in the neighborhood.

Room tip: Get a room on the ground floor with access to garden
