just back from a wonderful week at Church View guest house in Belturbet run by Maura Hughes and her family. This guest house has a serious slant towards fishermen, from a large tackle shed with coat hooks for wet clothes, power sockets to charge your batteries, and a huge walk in cold store to keep your bait in tip top condition, all with secure gated off road parking. The rooms ,all en-suit, are light ,cool, and spacious, breakfast is unlimited be it cereals, fruit or Full Irish ,you will struggle to move it ! On arrival we were greeted by Maura and her husband who provided us with a plate of fresh sandwiches . Each day on returning from fishing Maura kindly provides tea and biscuits in the lounge and wants to hear how we have done. Because Maura is local and knows the area she made two phone calls on our behalf to landowners known to her to seek permission to access fishing over private land, this was granted, in effect giving you private fishing should you need it. Other gusts we spoke to were regular visitors which tells its own story, we will certainly be back because it doesn't get any better than Church View. peter w

We booked the place just to be nearer to Dublin Airport before returning our hire car there. What a good choice it was! We received an extremely warm welcome, like old friends. The hostess, Maura, offered to carry our cases and gave us a huge family room and an option for another one if we did not like it. We did and then she brought us a huge pot of tea and a plate with enormous scones and jam...together with maps and infos about the area and town, where to eat and where to find live music that night! What a treat! There is not the spectacular scenery you get in other places and sadly many houses in town seem vacated, but in every shop we went we got enrolled in lengthy conversation with friendly locals.
The live music in a pub was great and we also had a fantastic sunset which we watched from the marina, our only clear night of the tour.
As you can see from the photos in the hall, the Dubliners also used to stay there . No wonder they felt at home there!
We would certainly break our journey there again and it is aso very convenient for a tour into Northetn Ireland, only a few miles away.

I normally stay in this lovely guest house on my way to Lough Derg. It's a family run business which gives it that extra special touch! The lovely warm welcome you get makes you feel at home right from the start. The bedrooms are spotless, wonderful showers and a lovely peaceful nights sleep. Unfortunately I never get a chance to try their wonderful breakfast but hearing comments from other guests I would say it's mighty. I would highly recommend this as must stay for your holiday!

We were so welcomed upon our arrival...with warm greetings and a pot of tea... Our room was very comfortable and the breakfasts were fabulous, with lots of homemade soda bread each day...and scones one day as a treat. We stayed 5 nights, and wished we would have had more time. It is centrally located in Belterbut...with great little pubs and shops within walking distance...easy parking. Was a real pleasure and our hostesses (Maura and Rose) were the best!!

Room tip: We had a room on the 2nd fl facing street..(which was very quiet..so no worries), and had a nice view.
