Description: The medieval travelers and modern, always stood in small villages in the Cretan countryside to learn about the customs and traditions and the particular way that they cooked. In Chania, Crete, in the picturesque village of Pano Agia Marina, we continue this tradition in Olivi Restaurant. Inside the courtyard with a vineyard and flowers of the Cretan countryside, among olive groves surrounding the village, we will take you to the magic of Cretan and Mediterranean cuisine. With food in the wood oven and fresh pizza. The manufacture of various dishes made exclusively with local ingredients and virgin olive oil, with much love and care by us. ( Possibility of delivery) Our wines are among the worlds known varieties of Crete and our beers. Offering a playground and free Wi-Fi.

The owners really understand what good customer service is! We felt very welcome from the first minute, I think there is at least two generations taking care of the restaurant. Everything we ate was absolutely tasty and good, recommendations for the mushroom starters. As the main we took the special of the day; it was swordfish cooked in oven with vegetables. Fish was served with potatoes, rice, salad and sauce. So juicy, tender and full of flavor! Dessert was on the house: some cake with ice cream and Raki, nice surprise and a great way to finish the meal.

Our 3rd year in Agia Marina and have lost count of how many times we have eaten here. The food is excellent as always. Great food and service, the owners go out of there way to welcome you. Group of us this year as one couple were getting married while we were there and they loved the food as well can't wait to go back next year.

This place is far by the best place to eat in the area. Lovely atmosphere inside and was greeted by lovely staff who made sure we were okay throughout. Had the feta fournisti which was very tasty with onions, tomato and peppers and fresh bread with dips which was nice as starters. Lamb gavdos was one of the best lamb dishes ive had and would recommend it. Lamb was cooked prefectly with a beautiful red wine and tomato sauce and with potatoes and tzatziki made the dish amazing. Lamb Tsigariasto is another dish to try. Lots of lamb meat cooked beautifully in a white wine sauce with potatoes and salad. Got free pudding and liquer to complete such a lovely meal and evening. Definitely the best restaurant to try out.

The food arrived after a long time, was cold, and waiter was rude.

He asked how was the food and when I have started to tell him that it was cold he just walked away.

Do not order a plate for two with greek/cretan specialites, for sure you will have the same problem, and do not try musaka, or simple try other tavernas, maybe you will find kind or normal waiters.

As a recommendation, try other country!

Our second stay in Agia Marina, so another opportunity to try several of the tavernas in and around the old village. Last year we singled out Olivi as the best, taking all aspects into account, and this year we found ourselves returning five times because, although food standards are generally high in this area, in our opinion nowhere else could quite match this taverna. Why? Because of the complete dining out experience which begins with the warm and genuine welcome of the two trustworthy brothers Babbys and Giannis, the pleasant ambience with the attractive but undisturbed village scene and quiet greek music playing in the background, the prompt and attentive service and, of course, the excellent and generous food portions. I am reluctant to single out any particular meal as they are all so very good, but will just mention the 500g pork chop (highlighted in a recent review) which is easily the biggest I have ever seen, over a foot in length, and the daily authentic Cretian specials, normally baked in their wood oven, that are always delicious.
As food lovers who like to try different places to eat, in our opinion this family run taverna really takes some beating, and we highly recommend it.
