We drove from Granada to Apoyo taking in local culture of a pilgrimage with straw wagons, quite delightful. From Katerina which overlooks the lake giving a string cool breeze which is welcome after 38deg heat! We took little roads and stove through the national park down to the lake. There are beach clubs, hostels (great quality hostels!), and hotels. Unfortunately we didn't book so we just took in the views and one if the hostels allowed us to park and have a drink overlooking the lake. This would be a great place to rest, Take in the peace and top up the tan, quite lovely.
