Thought we'd try the above and it was amazing. The miso/smoked duck starter was sublime and the Beef Wellington was utterly divine. The portion sizes were really generous so overall we felt it offered exceptional value for money given the quality.
I completely cocked up the chocolate fondant and although it tasted lovely it looked a complete mess. All that did was serve to remind me why I want to start visiting restaurants again as soon as possible though!

Normally we cook at home but it’s 2020 so why not when the Maynard is just around the corner. Lovely food and huge quantities so we have lots of leftovers like normal. Thanks for doing this and for the mulled wine when we collected.
Had an overnight stay at The Maynard and it was wonderful. The room was basic but had everything needed for a restful night. The bed was very comfortable and the room silent. Food was excellent, all freshly cooked and piping hot. The staff were fabulous all going out of their way to be helpful to all customers. A great stay and I would definitely book again if I needed to stay in the area again
My boyfriend and I had dinner here to celebrate our anniversary, the restaurant is heaven for gluten free people like myself with the only downside being too much choice! I was told the chef (or owner) has celiac and therefore passionate about catering to dietary needs. You get plenty of food for your money and it was absolutely gorgeous, if the hotel wasn't 2 hours away I'd be in there constantly
After a change of plans due to COVID we made a last minute booking to this hotel for a get away overnight stay. The hotel is very picturesque and has amazing countryside views. We checked in online before arriving so check in on arrival was very prompt. The hotel is very covid safe with a one way system through the hotel, lots of hand sanitiser stations and everything very clean and well maintained. Our room was quite basic but for £70 for bed and breakfast it was a real bargain. Although basic it had a few luxury touches with lovely complimentary speciality tea and coffee and a bottle of water. They also supplied bathrobes for use during our stay. We booked an evening meal in the restaurant which was delicious, well presented and good value for money, even more so as we took advantage of the 30% Wednesday steak discount. We had drinks in the bar before and after dinner, the choice was vast and reasonably priced. The bar was very cosy with a very welcoming fire. Breakfast was amazing, all local produce, very tasty! As with any hotel the staff are very important and the staff at this hotel are absolutely amazing! Every single one of them worked so hard to make our stay extra special, they all made us feel valued they are an absolute asset to this hotel. A final, extra thank you to Josh who not only looked after us superbly but went above and beyond to help us with a plug to charge our phones (we'd unfortunately forgotten ours). This really is a gem of a hotel and I can't recommend it highly enough!
We had a lovely short break at the Maynard, it is a wonderful location for exploring the eastern part of the Peak District. The food is really tasty and a great and interesting selection. Very helpful and friendly staff. We will definitely be back to stay and explore the beautiful region again.
