We've often passed the Village Pub on our travels, but this time we broke our journey from Cornwall for an overnight stay. Very welcoming staff, nothing too much trouble. We had Room 5 which is on the front. Bear in mind that this can be a busy route at times, so plenty of traffic noise, but the secondary double glazing makes a huge difference. Overnight there's little traffic so it's not really a problem, but it does kick off in the morning with what must be commuters. Nice cottage style bedroom with four poster bed and adjoining en suite, all nicely presented. Evening meal was excellent with large portions and a great selection on the menu, including whole grouse (Just in season). The dining area is very cosy, some tables with winged armchairs. Breakfast was excellent. Although this is a busy traditional Cotswold pub, the car park is a good size and quite secluded. We will stay here again.
