Spent a week here at end of July - obviously very busy at this time of the year. My husband and I were with our 16 year old granddaughter and the hotel and situation were very good for closeness to the main bars and restaurants.
The rooms (suites) are refurbished apartments which give you a large living area and good sized bedroom. The sofa bed was very comfortable and the large fridge was a boon in the average temps of 32 degrees. Wifi available at no extra cost across the hotel.
Negative points - air con not good enough and set at 20 degrees, sometimes choice for evening meal limited - lots of meat and chicken grilled.

Room Tip: Block C odd numbers overlook the pool, miss the afternoon sun therefore cooler.

First impressions of the room was OK; room tidy and clean, modern facilities. Until we found our the air - con wasn't working. Even though they fixed it straight away, many people where complaining throughout the stay.

Most facilities are modern and clean; the pool is great , food is good and everything is clean. It's just the service at the snack bar near the pool isn't great. The entertainment is good for the kids.

1 of the worst things where the lift. It broke down during our stay and is tiny, it can't take all of your luggage in one go, and takes ages to get up the only 3 floors in C Block.

The location is great. Near HidroPark, a great waterproof (but it's aimed for the kids) is only a 10 min drive / taxi away. The beach is great and all of the restaurants nearby are great.

Overall, the hotel is OK, but they need to make things better make it a actual 4 star.

Well I have written a review about my experience last year and this year was even better the entertainment may not have been great but they are really nice people and glad we got to know them rafa, Sven,Ella, neinke and loes all worked extremely hard to keep the kids busy and the kids loved it. The rooms were no different from last year but still at a high quality standard. A couple of changes to the hotel are that the stage has relocated so that it is now facing the pool. Staff were all outstanding AGAIN such nice people.I have heard that next year they are meant to be changing the restaurant to look more modern and up to date. Food at night was OK when you stay for 2 weeks like us it is weird because you see the same food that was there the last week some of it was disappointing but most of the time it was delicious.I really recommend that you check it out because you won't regret it.

Room Tip: Ground floor is the best

We stayed at the Puerto Azul for 11 nights at the end of July. We received a very friendly welcome including orange juice or champagne whilst we waited for our room. All of the staff that we came across were helpful and friendly. This hotel caters mainly for families which we knew before booking, but if you prefer somewhere quieter then this hotel isn't for you! The hotel is in a really good location, 5 minutes walk to the beach and all of the restaurants and bars. The wifi wasn't great, very hit and miss, particularly in the room.

Rooms
We had a slightly shaky start with our room as we were originally put in a disabled room. Despite the staff's assurances, these rooms are smaller and the bathrooms are decorated to a lower standard. It was an open living area/bedroom and then a sliding door into the wet room so not very private! We asked to be moved and were moved the following afternoon. The members of staff that dealt with this were very helpful.

Once we were in the room that we wanted we were really comfortable. The rooms are nicely decorated, clean and modern. The shower was powerful and we had a large fridge that stayed on at all times. There was plenty of storage space including hangers. Our only complaint with the room would be the air conditioning - it doesn't go below 20 degrees so it unfortunately didn't keep us cool which resulted in a couple of hot nights!

Food
We really enjoyed the buffet-style food here and always found something that we liked. For breakfast you could have hot food such as pancakes, sausages, bacon etc. or cereals and croissants. At dinner there was a good salad selection, nice deserts and breads and a main grill area where you could get freshly cooked fish and meats. There was also a mini kids buffet with things like chicken nuggets and spaghetti bolognese; calamari was one of the more random options! We found the service at dinner very good, not the chaotic experience that some people have described. The restaurant also had the odd theme night such as Mexican or Italian.

They have a snack menu during the day which you can order from, but we were often kept waiting for quite a while which got slightly annoying! It seemed that they waited until more people were seated before taking orders. The snack menu includes things like omelettes, burgers, pasta, salads, etc.

Pool Area
The pool area is clean and well maintained, however it is quite small considering how busy it gets. For the majority of our holiday the sun-beds were unlocked at 9am. People would go down earlier to get a parasol and sit with it until the sun-beds were unlocked, which we thought was a bit mad but found that it was necessary! If you go down to the pool much later than 9:30/10am then you won’t have much chance of getting a bed unfortunately. The pool does get very busy so not much opportunity to have a good swim as you have to dodge the children diving in! Again, this is to be expected from a family-orientated hotel.

Entertainment
The ‘Animation Team’ provided the entertainment daily. They led various activities such as water aerobics and water polo during the day and different ‘shows’ in the evenings. The nightly mini-disco was great for children but very repetitive. Some of the shows were quite good, including the parrot and snake shows, but the musical-based shows were slightly cringey as the Animation Team would mime all of the songs! Again – all of the children loved it!

All in all we had a really enjoyable stay and would highly recommend the Puerto Azul to families.

Room Tip: Watch out for the disabled rooms on the ground floor

Spent 10 days at the Puerto Azul Suite Hotel with 2 children aged 4 and 6. Hotel staff are very friendly and can't do enough to help. Food was nice with buffets for breakfast (8-10.30am) and dinners (6.30-9.30pm). Only 1 day out of 9 had a problem finding something to eat. Could do with more staff in the restaurant as the staff were rushed off their feet and we sometimes had to wait in long queues at peak times for the freshly cooked food.

Reception were great at booking excursions and helping us find places to eat in the resort. Had a problem with a leaking toilet in the room (B118) which was fixed within a few hours. This fixed the shower’s low water pressure. Rooms cleaned to a high standard everyday. Would have been nice to have a dustpan and brush in the room to sweep away the sand after a day at the beach. Sofa beds in the lounge were a bit creaky but comfy. Sleep was difficult - noise from other rooms was loud. The hotel could do with soft close bedroom doors. This was the only thing that would put me off going again. We were on the ground floor so had the garden terrace for the children to play in which was great, but come night, I found it hard to sleep. Great to have A/C controlled from the room.

Pool was clean and warm - salt water pool so most children had goggles on. Adult pool is deep, starting from 1.7m to 2m something. There is a babies and separate children’s pool. Large inflatables were not allowed in the adult pool but thankfully the staff didn’t enforce this rule

Evening entertainment was a bit hit and miss. Bingo, Queen Tribute, Michael Jackson Tribute etc. The Cosmo children’s entertainers were FANTASTIC. Kids LOVED the mini disco and still sing and dance to the songs. Adults had to stay with their children during the mini club which was a shame.

Port de Pollenca is a beautiful resort. The hotel is just a short walk to the beach, shops and restaurants. Warm shallow sea water - but beware of the sharp rocks in the sea. Sometimes the water was so clear you could see fish dart around your legs. The beach across from the Pine Walk is lovely but very crowded. If you prefer something quieter, there is a wider and less crowded beach about 10 minutes walk away from the hotel. Just walk along the Pine Walk towards the marina. Even managed to find a sun bed at 10.45am! Yes, it’s opposite Burger King.. and adjacent to the road… but quiet and easier to spot the children so we felt relaxed more.

A great hotel and would hightly recommend for families with children under 9.

Room Tip: Garden room B118 facing the road, away from the pool.
