The location is central for exploring northern Tuscany (Siena, Pisa, Firenze, Lucca...). The site itself is settled between olive trees, vineyards and huge cypress trees so typical for tuscan countryside. The rooms are beautiful, thoughtfully decorated with romantic details, both the exterior and the interior are furnished in traditional tuscan style. In my opinion, breakfast needs a little improvement (too small buffet; needs greater variety) but it's lovely to have it outside in the garden. Even though the pool is very beautiful and clean, I'd wish it was closer (you need to walk cca 8 min from your room to the pool, you can't have coffee at the pool and it's too far to take it from your room, if you forget sth in your room no way you're going back for it...)There are no supermarkets near by to buy food/water so come prepared. They have a nice (fine dining) restaurant within the site (50-100€ for a dinner for 2 persons). They produce their own wine (we tried chianti red and it was great), they also make their olive oil and it's faboulous. The reception is open in interrupted shifts (8-12 and 15-19) so be careful with the check-in time.

After 2 weeks in Umbria we extended our holidays with a 2 night stay at Tenuta Sant'Ilario. This was a perfect experience. We stayed in the family room with a separate bedroom/bathroom for the kids (14+16) and spent a day at the the pool relaxing before traveling back home to the Netherlands. We loved the authentic style, the silence and the perfect breakfast in the garden. We also had 2 times dinner in the restaurant, which is at the same estate. The food was excellent, Tuscany taste with a twist and a lot of love.

Given the central location in Tuscany, we will consider this hotel as the base for next year holidays.

Sant'Ilario is undoubtedly ideal for those who want to "unplug the plug". The surrounding nature, the atmosphere created thanks to the furnishings of the rooms, the garden, the scents of freshly baked brioches make this location unique. And if you want to grab a bit of time during your stay to visit villages in the area, we are really close to all the most well-known Tuscan countries: San Gimignano and Volterra, but also Certaldo, San Miniato, Monteriggioni and more.
We are pleased you loved our place as we do and honored you will consider it as your base for next year holidays.
Thanks from all of us!

The site is just as pictured on the website. All the rooms are well decorated, clean and spacious, and the staff is attentive. The breakfast is filling and complete with eggs, meats, yogurt and fruit. The quiet and beautiful location of the hotel completes the package. After the hustle and bustle of Florence, it was nice to find peace and quiet. I felt totally relaxed, warm mornings sipping cappuccino over breakfast listening to the rooster crow, cool dips in the pool in the afternoon, and golden sunset evenings. We had dinner at the restaurant only once, and the food excellent in flavour and presentation. (The portions were a bit small for my teenage boys however) We also attended the Pizza Party with pizza made in their 400 year old oven, which was tasty and fun. On our way out of Gambassi Terme, we stopped at the Corbucci Vineyard for a wine tasting, which is only 15min away. We also did day trips to Volterra and Pisa. I thoroughly enjoyed our time at Tenuta San'illario and would love to return in the future.

The best reward we can get out of our activity is learning that we have reached our goal: offer our guests an unforgettable holiday in full relax, enjoying the quietness and the beauty of the countryside and its sunsets, refreshing at the pool, eating good food and drinking good wine, being pampered by our staff ... we all are grateful for your beautiful review and hopefully we will see you again at Tenuta Sant'Ilario.

This place is absolutely amazing! We stayed for three nights in a three bedroom apartment in July and it was the highlight of our months in Europe (which included multiple stops in Spain, France, Italy and Ireland). The accommodations were everything we had hoped for, the staff was amazing, the food was great, and the pool was so much fun. We had a Tuscan cooking class in our apartment with Guiseppi, who is a chef at the on site restuarant, that we will never forget. We made hand rolled pici pasta and tiramisu...the best part was getting to share the meal after we cooked! There were a few tears when we had to leave, and my family agreed that we will have to find a way to make it back here someday! Do yourself a favor and check it out!

spent 3 amazing days here back in June 2017 during our road trip around Italy, and I have to say it was one of the highlights of our trip for sure.
Tuscany in general is a very beautiful and picturesque part of the world, but Tenuta Sant'llario couldn't be more perfectly situated for amazing views and peaceful atmosphere. All of the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant, and the food in the restaurant was absolutely gorgeous! Spent many an afternoon laid out by the cooling pool on one of the many sun beds situated around it, and just chilled!!
couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough, will definitely make a return visit
