“interesting area, lovely Old Town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2009

Hotel was clean, tidy and reception staff were very good. Breakfast was lovely, fabulous pancakes with different toppings! Evening meals were always busy but ample food. Choice could be somewhat regional, weird stuffed cabbage dishes and fish stews - fish in general featured a lot. Ate dragon skate and weaver fish!!! Desert always cake and fruit.
Pools far too small for serious swimmers, indoor pool room very humid and went in the sauna and jacuzzi once but didnt seem right when the weather is 35 outside!
Surrounding area untouristy and no fast food outlets, thank goodness.
Visit to Budva Old town- well worth it, you can walk in 20 -30 mins or get a bus for £1.20 each way, or ask the taxi to take you for the same amount. People are honest and do not rip you off.
Most other guests, 90%, are Russian on all inclusive breaks, so are allowed free drinks on tap and eat too much! They were very friendly and accompanied me in the aqua aerobics sessions, which were always undersubscribed.
Wonderful Taste of Montenegro day trip to Cetinje, Kotor and the National Park. Lovely scenery, historic places and quaint villages to see.

food: good choice of food but got a bit boring towards the end of the second week. the food was a bit repetitive, and all the desserts tasted the same every night! the prices of drinks are a joke in the hotel, you're better of going to the the local shop across the main road. shops near the beach are 3 times the price! nice area to sit outside an eat, more like a terrace, but good views over looking mountains and the beach.

rooms: had a few issues with cleanliness so we asked to move. we were told at the reception that this was not possible as Thomson guests do not have priority. it seems like the russian operators send more guests, so all the russian guests get the best rooms! after causing a bit of a scene at the reception having been told this, we were told they could move us the following day, which they did. the room was a lot nicer, they clearly palm of the grotty rooms to english guests! but all rooms we saw seemed a bit grubby and in need of a bit of TLC.
beds were really hard! the mattress was really thin and you could feel the springs digging into your body, not fun when your there for 2 weeks!

pool: RUBBISH!!!!! accident waiting to happen! 3 pools the size of a bath if im honest! we were so disappointed. the pool looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a while. there was grime around the rim of the pool which had nail marks in it was that thick! i think they had cleaned the water, but that is just not good enough. they also were filling the pools up with a hose pipe at one point! they had lifted up a slap around the rim of the pool and slotted the hose pipe in. i'm just glad we don't have children, i wouldn't feel they were safe there. it really is a dangerous area for kids, grubby, and just generally not very well presented.

beach: again a bit of a disappointment. it is really crowded with sun beds, umbrella etc you can hardly see the sea. you do get free towels and sunbeds as your part of the hotel which is good. it has its own private stretch.

now for the good points, sveti stefan is a really nice area, beach is beautiful, a lot better than becici. we couldnt quite make up our mind as to whether becici was nice or not, you get good areas and then you see a really dumpy part, its a bit like that along the promenade in becici. both ends are nice, but the middle part needs cleaning up a bit.
budva old town is great, really really nice. we enjoyed a few evenings out there, some lovely yachts there too.
there are some really gorgeous beaches to visit too which are not far away, also the town of kotor about 40 mins away has an amazing old town and a port. if we ever visit again, we would stay here because its so pretty and the town sits on the bay and its stunning.

warning: watch out for staff in bars/restaurants short changing you. it happens a lot in the area when you first go into a bar, but once you point it out to them they don't do it again and they give you what you are owed. seemed to happen too often for it to be a coincidence. it even happened in the hotel pool bar!!! we were shocked and should have complained to reception but we felt we had done it a few too many times, they were probably bored of us!

Thought this was one of the better smaller hotels in Becici as it was in a good position right next to the beach. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was good with plenty of choice and the beach bar offered a buffet at lunch time for a reasonable price. Towels were provided for the pool and the private beach. The only disappointment was that we only had entertainment one evening.

Lovely hotel in large grounds and as close to the beach as you could wish for. Stayed here for a week on half board. Staff very mixed, some very friendly some just plain rude. Food not wonderful but a reasonable selection of dishes presented in buffet style and certainly palatable. Often found tables not cleared and it took a while to get anyone's attention to replenish the cutlery, order drinks etc. If you are on all-inclusive, be warned, you only get the benefit of certain bars, quite restricted and probably not worth it. Final moan, balcony is not suitable for sitting out on, too small and no furniture provided. You can take chairs from the bedroom but it would be very cramped, also, nowhere to dry swimwear if you are on second floor.
Now for the good, very well equipped hotel with three (smallish) outdoor pools and one inside pool. Sauna, Jacuzzi, table tennis etc. available. Shop inside hotel sells emergency supplies and a few other things, nice shop in grounds selling clothes and shoes. Outdoor restaurant for lunches and snacks with seats facing beach or gardens. Sun beds and towels on the beach are plentiful and free (using a token system). Beach is more shingle than sand and sea gets deep very quickly so you need to keep an eye on your little children, but it is very clean. Evening entertainment most nights, either on the big stage where they feature Montenegrin Dancers once a week or in the Tequila Bar where PDV play live most evenings.
Round and about: St Stefan's a beautiful little promontory full of houses that have been taken over by a developer who is going to make some kind of luxury resort there, unfortunately you cannot enter but it is pretty so worth having a wander in that direction. Budva old town, approx 8 Euros in a cab, definitely worth a visit but quite a long walk, further than brochures or reps lead you to believe. We also took the Montenegrin Tour, takes you over the famous "25" a collection of hairpin bends in the mountains, stop for lunch near the top and then make your way to Kotor, where the cruise ships stop. A pretty little walled town, not dissimilar to Budva. You also visit Cetinje en route, the former capital of Montenegro. We also visited Podgorica, hubby wants to visit every European capital so it was obligatory. If you are tempted to do the same, the bus from the main Budva bus station takes you there for 6 Euros and a taxi back cost 30 Euros. Not a lot to see and do there and the locals will think you are mad if you decide to go but we had a good time and we found a pint for less than a £1.00!
Local buses pass outside the hotel, on the main road and cost 1.50 Euros per journey, pay on the bus.
I'd like to mention that this felt like a really safe place, I feel sure that if you left your camera on your sun bed while you went for lunch it would still be there when you came back and there is no problem about wandering around after dark. A really great holiday destination, go there before it becomes too popular.

The Hotel is right in front of the Becici Beach. The rooms are comfy and satisfied the equipment. The Tv with bunch of int'l channels is good. The views are okay. Most importantly the rooms are very clean. The hotel is in good shape. Breakfast is better than a continental. Forget about the pools and the bars of the hotel. The beach is crowdy but easy to find sunbeds, the towels are provided, lunch at the hotel is cheap, also the drinks are cheap. The sea is not the best but great for swimming. The hotel and the area is invaded by Russians, thus the staff bearly speaks English.

The Hotel is located in Becici, which is 15 min. walk away Budva center. The taxi price would vary from 4EURs to 9EURs to Budva, and Tivat airport to Becici is between 16EURs - 25EURs since all taxi co. vary. There is nothing to do in Becici, so most probably u ll need to go to Budva center which is lively.

Lots of construction going on around. Night lfe in Budva is ok. The restaurants are ok. The ppl are nice, they speak few words of English. Visited Kotor which costed 16EURs by taxi from the hotel. The weather was perfect during the first week of July.
