A 2 night stopover on Sherpa self-guide walking holiday. Sonia greeted us after each gruelling day with warmth and wine . As other reviews mentioned, can be chilly but heater & blankets in basic but functional room. WiFi strength in room sufficient to write and post this review. Food all cooked by mama (the best) with ingredients from the island. Try the goat stew (with spuds and a few veg could easily become scouse) or if veggie/vegan ask for Garbanzas without meat (chickpea stew)

We stopped for lunch after a great walk from the highest point of the Island.

The food was pre-ordered by our guide . The veg soup was extremely tasty and very hearty - infact a meal in itself. We had beef as the main which was also very tasty . Note that we managed to avoid rabbit which we do not like after a discussion with our guide . A simple dessert of mousse was followed by coffee . The service was excellent throughout . The only downside was the carafe of red wine which was horrible .

All in all a great lunch stop for proper rustic food

After a guided walk from Laguna Grande to Chipude, we were taken to Bar Sonia for lunch. We were pleased to note that there were also a number of local people eating here, and having the same food as us.
We started with vegetable soup, with ground corn to add if we wanted to thicken it. Then the waiter put huge bowls of rabbit stew and beef stew on the table for us to help ourselves, together with Canary style potatoes. It was all really tasty, and clearly using mostly local ingredients. The homemade wine was a bit rough; the white slipped down easier than the red! The meal was rounded off with a light pineapple dessert. An ideal meal for walkers!

Good food and service, positive surprise as we did not expect much. Neat, clean place overall. Chicken was really good. Place was empty when we arrived but quite full before we left, still service was good and promt.

What a great welcome, as we staggered through the door after eight hours of solid walking through all weathers! Lovely people, and very welcome excellent beer; followed later by some remarkably good food, especially for such remote and rural surroundings. Bedroom was pretty basic, but comfortable enough nevertheless – and a little chilly; but it is up a mountain! Above all, the sense of being off the beaten track, and being away from standard Canary Islands tourist-oriented fare, is very satisfying indeed; and the little square where this place is located is absolutely beautiful.
