Really enjoyed this modern hotel in a quiet, distant part of western Japan, in a fairly nondescript port town set amongst picturesque river and lakes and surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery.
The rooms are very comfortable, the views from the upper floors quite pleasant, the top level bathhouse is a treat, and the extensive buffet breakfast, western and Japanese - while relatively expensive at Y2000 - set us up well for the excursions of the day.
Sakaiminato is well away from Matsue, 41 minutes by private bus with a Yen1000 fare. From Matsue station you can reach the town at no cost with a JR rail pass, but it takes much longer and requires a connection which for non-Japanese speaking visitors comes with language complications. Once you arrive in Sakaiminato, the 12 storey hotel is easy to spot, just a minute's walk from the rail and bus terminus.
We seemed to be the only westerners staying at the hotel. Perhaps most other tourists chose to stay closer to attractions in Matsue.

Room Tip: Open windows on upper floors catch the breeze at night - no need for AC. Must try the public bath for a proper Japanese experience.

Fantastic little hotel just next to the train station and along shingeru road. Very convenient but note there is really nothing around the area after about 6.30 pm (for those without car). However, If you have a car, you can drive out to many eateries, 24 hour shopping at supermarket or even yuushien garden which is 15 mins drive. It has natural hot spring on top as well as free laundry service. The best part is its buffet!!!! Amazing spread of ikura, yellowtail and others. Not as good as Hakodate La Vista (also part of its chain) buffet but well it is very good for its price.

You have to take off the shoes while check in. We booked twin beds room and the room size is acceptable. Very clean and neat rooms.

Worth try the buffet breakfast even thought it's a bit expensive but you can have the crab meat and fresh sashimi to make your own seafood don
