We spent two days there. We were very pleased to be upgraded to a suite and enjoyed the stay very much. Service as good generally. There were many kids because it is summer school holiday season.
Breakfast service was a bit slow due to the vast amount of guests and kids. Staff were attentive and very helpful.
We throughly enjoyed the stay and I didn't use the pool facility because of too many kids there.

First of all I'd like to say that hotel itself was quite ok. Some pro's (big rooms), some con's (outdated 80's style, average pool area, terrible executive lounge). By no means it's a 5 star resort and I probably would have been very pissed off if I would have paid a ridiculous 600$/night for it, but as we have used our Marriott miles, it was ok I guess... There are much better and very modern Marriott resorts out there that cost less and offer more, but being in Japan at the peak season... All in all it could have been an averagely enjoyable stay, if not for one, but very important detail. The hotel is situated literally in the middle of nowhere, and sadly not in a good remote-romantic-nature paradise way, Okinawa Honto is quite urban, there are simply NO means of transportation available if you don't have a car. And if you are not up to paying 16000 yen (150 US dollars) for a cab to the Naha (one way) of course, which is ridiculously expensive. It's like living in LA area completely without an access to the car, even worse, because all the local (and infrequent) buses are in Japanese and very difficult to figure out. They do have an airport shuttle running past the hotel a couple times per day (so at least you can reach the airport without major spending), but it only connects you to the airport and central bus station nearby and takes about 2 hours one way, timetable is rather inconvenient (the earliest you can get in Naha is about 11 and you must leave as early as 18). If you want to see anything except the hotel or airport, there are only two options left - rented car or incredible overpriced taxis.

I admit, the gravity of the situation came upon me only after our arrival at Marriott Okinawa, as mainland Japan is very convenient transport-wise and we travelled through major part of it without even slight inconvenience on that account. Obviously, the major part of guests, being Japanese or asians, was wiser then me and much better prepared, as parking lots at the hotel was full and they were a huge parking lots. Well, the worst thing about all that - you cannot just rent a car in Japan! You need an international driving permit for that or authorized translation of your license in Japanese. And getting it takes days. I knew about it beforehand, of course, but as we didn't plan on using a car... Well, I would have found time for that now, if I could only imagine, how bad it could get..

There are some sights on Okinawa Honto, including a couple of decent beaches and nature parks we would have loved seeing. Also many flights or ferrys to smaller islands leave in the morning, at least the ones we needed did, which robes you of option to use less expensive (compared to the cab) airport shuttle (as it was sad already, the earliest one arrives at Naha around 10.30-11). And also you can forget about eating delicious food at the numerous local okinawian restaurants, as they all are miles away, so you left with decent, but uninspired and as well overpriced hotel restaurants.

So if you don't want to feel prisoner at this hotel, as we did, and spoil your vacation by ruining your plans and spending larger amount of money then expected, carefully consider your transportation options in advance.

As for the hotel, some shuttle service would be nice, at least early in the morning or late in the evening, when airport buses aren't available.

Me and my boyfriend stayed in Marriott Okinawa for birthday. The hotel did provide execellet service better then we expected. The room is big with a balcony. This is a smoking free hotel. There are only 2 small smoking room provided in the hotel. There is a small convinience store too. So you don't even have to walk out the hotel. Just one thing not too convinience is room service is not 24 hours like other hotels. Other then that, the hotel is almost perfect, staffs are very helpful and friendly, they always wearing a friendly smile on their face. If you wanna go to the big supermarket, there is one called Aeon, 15 minutes driving distance.

The room is big and clean. The service is great & all personal are friendly. There is in door & out door pools. Shuttle service to the beach. The breastfast has a wide variety of food selections. 4-5 restaurants in the hotel. And when request, they provide informations of restaurants outside the hotel, within 10-15 min drive. They also kindly assist us in making reservations to these outside restaurants.

My husband and I spent 4 nights in this hotel and we were upgraded to a 2 bathrooms suite with a Jacuzzi! The sea view is lovely. The funny part was we kept the balcony door opened in the morning and a crow flew in and stole my pack of crisp on table while unattended!
