We decided to book a table for dinner, and walked round one or two of those recommended on this website. Fortunately someone has posted a map of how to reach Il Lunedi dello Studio, otherwise we would have probably not found it.
You go down an alley behind the fat soldier statue, and follow it round to the right and then the left through a slightly seedy looking square. The restaurant is hidden by bushes. It was actually easier to find at night as the way is illuminated with fairy lights, but on the Wednesday night in August that we visited it was a good job we had made a reservation as it was completely full.
There are three areas in which to dine; the garden at the front among the bushes, the main restaurant area inside or a raised terrace outside at the back.
We started with Insalata Mista Molto Mista, which had walnuts, fruit and a peppery salad. Other dishes we enjoyed were Tordelle della Tradizione con Ragu, stuffed aubergines, and a huge piece of pork rib served with green beans. We had the house rosé wine, which was a rich colour and very drinkable, and chilled desserts.
This is a restaurant with atmosphere. The garden at the front looked enchanting at night, the music lifted the spirits and the food and wine were excellent.
