We stayed at Quinta Esencia as part of our honeymoon stay in Costa Rica...and we are so glad we chose it. Firstly before we arrived, Stephanie and Jerome were super helpful recommending places to book for some diving we wanted to do. It was also necessary for Stephanie and Jerome to return home and not be there for the duration of our stay, but they emailed to let us know that they would not be there and introduced us to Coralie and Didier who would be looking after us in their absence. Totally not expected but a nice gesture to let us know. So...we arrived at QE and immediately loved the place. The quirky artwork by Stephanie and very in-keeping with the surroundings. You wouldn't even know this place was there in blended in to nature so well. We were met by Coralie who was lovely from the off. She (and I'm sure Didier and their daughter) had decorated our room so nicely with honeymoon balloons and ribbons. It was great! We also had a lovely honeymoon gift left by Stephanie which we also loved! So now to Diders honeymoon challenge. This started with a special fruit bowl each day that was carefully constructed 'honeymoon' style with the fruits making hearts. Day by day, the layout of the fruit on the plate became more and more technical until on the second to last day, we thought Didier had outdone himself with cocktail sticks holding the heart shaped fruits! This was amazing and he even didn't seem to know what he could do to top it. He did. We woke up on our last morning to a mobile hanging from above our breakfast table, complete with wooden hearts and lots of pictures from our honeymoon trip in CR. I have to admit it was so lovely it brought tears to my eyes. What a lovely lovely thing. And what lovely lovely hosts Coralie, Didier and their daughter made. We honestly were sad to leave and wanted to stay on there. (Not sure Didier wanted us to stay any longer! Lol!) although it's these little things that make the stay, the hotel as a whole is just fab. Beautiful clean rooms, gorgeous fresh breakfast...a short walk from the beach. What more do you want? Can't wait to return and meet Stephanie and Jerome and also visit Coralie and Didier!

We were looking for an economical option for our stay, and we found La Quinta Esencia. My wife and two young kids loved it, as did I. We have been to Conchal many times before, but staying here made it truly special. The owners were great, the free breakfast was really good. They had recomendations for us on where to eat and what to visit, it was great. Playa Conchal was within a 10 minute walk, but better to go by car. It is rustic in a beautiful way. This is a place to stay if you plan to be out for most of the day on the beach or travelling about, as the activities within the hotel are limited, but that was just fine with us. Would definitely stay here again.

What a delight it was to stay in this cute, comfortable, immaculate, and centrally located B & B! The breakfast was delicious - fresh fruit, fresh-squeezed orange juice, homemade bread, and tasty coffee.
The beds were so comfortable, the shower hot, and the A/C cold.
It was a short walk down to the beach or town - a lovely quiet alternative to the other touristy beach cities. Playa Conchal was about a 15 minute walk, which was also not too crowded and so beautiful with it's white sand made from crushed sea shells.
Jerome and Stefanie were great hosts and gave wonderful recommendations for dinning (our favorites were El Cafe del Manglar and the Italian place down by the bakery - which was also good). Stefanie's artwork is fun and original and makes the place one of a kind. The folks taking care of the B&B in their absence were phenomenal!!! Since Jerome and Stefanie had to leave town unexpectedly, they left us in good hands with our new hosts who were phenomenal. Our new hostess even sent us off with a loaf of fresh baked bread for our journey out of town.
