Called in for a visit to see some history of Tasmanian Hydro Electricity. Friendly helpful staff, excellent amenities so decided to stay the night in the two story Scholars Quarters, shared kitchen, open fire, very clean and well maintained. Had tea at the restaurant with open fire and fantastic food. Finished the night off walking around seeing possums, wallabies and bandicoots all for excellent prices.

Tarraleah is a wonderful town, now a resort, in the wild central highlands if Tasmania. Stayed at the gorgeous 1930s lodge with huge comfortable room. The rest of the lodge is fantastic with large comfortable living rooms and a huge Whisky collection in cabinets lining the walls. Perched atop a cliff with fantastic valley views. Very peaceful and historical environment. I look forward to a return trip.

We stayed in a cabin which was comfortable, well equipped and clean. The restaurant and cafe were extremely well run, the food top quality and the staff very hospitable. Of all the places weve stayed in Tassie this is the first to get full points.

Stayed in a lakeside cabin which was clean and well appointed. Cafe is open from 8am to 2pm, do a great brekkie. Full kitchen amenities in cabin which would be handy during the period the restaurant isn’t open as the nearest pub is 30-40 minutes away. If cooking for yourself be aware that there are no shops nearby. Excellent value for money and a great remote location, very quiet and peaceful.

We've been wanting to stay at Tarraleah for a long time, having visited briefly years ago, and finally booked a night’s stay to break the trip between Strahan and Hobart. Travelling as 2 couples and 2 singles, we stayed in the Superintendent’s Cottage, which was a sizey 4 bedroom house with 2 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms and plenty of room. The decor is great, and feels like going back in time to when this place was in its prime. House was warm but you do need to take in your supplies which the staff informed of us before arrival. History of Tarraleah is very interesting and it's great that it is now transformed rather than being a forgotten little town. Visited the Waterfall Walk and the Highlander Arms also (See other reviews).
