“A perfect wonderful stay”
Reviewed 26 January 2018 for a stay in January 2018

When I arrived I was met by Marilyn who showed me into the cottage. She was so lovely and accommodating. I was amazed of how well equipped the cottage was. Every draw in the kitchen gave another surprise - everything you could think of and more!. The comfy living room area was just what I needed - I was in the area on business so to return in the evening and being able to relax in a comfortable chair (it reclines) and either watch tv (has freeview) or watch a film (house has a huge supply of dvd's) or read (bookcase full of books too). There is also good wifi. Very comfortable bed in nicely decorated bedroom and good quality linen (both bed linen and towels). Good size en-suite bathroom too. Nothing was too much trouble for Marilyn and she certainly made sure that there was everything there for a perfect stay. Marilyn had left for my arrival fresh bread, milk, local butter and cheese and eggs in the fridge. The kitchen cupboards had a good selection of herbs and there was even tea, coffee, sugar so that there was no need to have to quickly go out and shop. Marilyn had also put her own jam and biscuits too. Small things like washing up liquid, washing machine liquid, hand soap in both the kitchen and bathroom and shower gel made it feel like even the little things had been thought about too. The whole feeling of the house made my stay a fabulous one. The house is just a 5 minute walk down into Henfield which has a lovely charm to it and a superb base to be able to explore locally and the South Downs. My whole stay was fantastic and Marilyn and her husband were great hosts. They are there if you need anything (a quick knock at their door ) whilst at the same time respecting your privacy and not imposing on your space. I was sad to leave and I will be returning to this "little gem" that I have discovered. Thank you very much Marilyn and Anthony

“Wonderful”
Reviewed 1 January 2018 for a stay in December 2017

Great location as quick walk to the centre of the village. Fully equipped with lovely touches including all essentials available and also home made biscuits. Cleaning also included. Marylin was away when we arrived and her son was waiting for us as arranged, so no issue on arrival. When leaving we realised we were over on luggage weight and she very kindly let us leave item behind to pick up on next visit. So kind and helpful.

“Peaceful cottage with caring unobtrusive host”
Reviewed 6 November 2017 for a stay in July 2017

We made our trip to the UK at very short notice due to a family bereavement and needed somewhere peaceful and stress free. Marilyn, the owner provided this and so much more. The cottage is beautiful and furnished to a high standard. Some basic food was provided such that I didn't need to rush out to the local supermarket (there are 2) as soon as we arrived. The pubs in town serve good food at reasonable prices. Marilyn also will come in once a week if you want for cleaning and to wash bedding. Over all, I cannot praise Lychgate Cottage and the owners enough. Thank you guys.

“Just perfect”

We stayed for a long weekend and wished it could have been longer. Marylin was the perfect hostess showing us around and explaining how to get to town which only took 5 minutes to walk. We found lots of homemade goodies in the kitchen and the whole cottage was well equipped and so comfortable. I hope to return again next year.

“Small but perfectly formed”
Reviewed 4 June 2017 for a stay in June 2017

Small, but well equiped. Quiet despite church clock striking the quarters. Marilyn friendly and helpfull. Welcome supplies of food and kitchen well stocked with the little things, herbs etc. She also offered loan of maps and guidebooks should we have needed them. Would we stay again? Certainly
