“YVR-YXE Usually a good flight”
Review of WestJet

Reviewed 4 weeks ago

I fly to YXE very regularly, a few times a month, I've taken the Calgary connection route and the Edmonton connection route many times before but it is just way easier to take the direct flight, even though it costs slightly more (they know they can get away with this). In the winter in particular I prefer less connections even if it means paying slightly more so that there is less risk of delays.

My comment to WJ on the plus seating and snacks; I appreciate the new service and different snacks from what was perviously offered a year or so ago (before the change), however, the new stuff is getting tiring as it is the same every time, when flying frequently with 2-3 legs in your journey, it gets a little 'old'.

My experience as well is that this flight is not often full so there is plenty of room without being crammed in like sardines, and it usually also helps for us Gold members to be upgraded for free to plus :-)

Generally a good flight with WJ connect on a 737-700

These planes are old, or they are heavily used, which ever, but they are not looking great on the inside.

Planes are owned and operated by Pacific Costal with westjet colors and uniforms

The overhead bag space is severely limited and WJ should make a note of it on their website or at least on the check in. Once you've flown this route once or twice you know what you can bring. There is room for bags only on one side and they can not be overly thick, my overnight bag is approx 8-9" thick loaded and i had to cram hard to get it in. There is however ample space under the seat for larger carryon's

This plane uses a valet service for carryon's you have to leave it on a cart outside the plane and then pick it up after landing.

A tip for emergency row seating people like myself who prefer it for leg room; 1 - there is no extra leg room! It is the same as the others, which are not overly bad (one of the good about this plane). 2 - on the single side row there is an emergency sign above the seat, tall people like myself will hit their heads on that sign. If you are tall and want extra room, don't choose this seat. Also the first seat on left at the door is pretty much knee to knee with the flight attendant...also very little room.

Horrible call center customer service and terrible customer service in general. They do very little to aid with situations regarding medical emergencies.
I fly with westjet 4 times a month for business and a couple times a year for holidays. I will be changing airlines in the future. Air canada has much better service.

My daughter is nervous to fly-particularly on take off and landing. On the first leg, the flight attendant went out of her way to make her comfortable and set the tone for her to fly the rest of our trip. I wish I could remember her name! She was fantastic!
