My wife and I recently were returning home from vacation in Rome We were flying to Detroit with a stop over in Newark. A huge storm on the eastern seaboard of the U.S. cancelled a number of flights including our final leg to Detroit. We went to the reservation desk along with hundreds of other stranded travelers to see if we could find an alternate flight home. We were fortunate to be waited on a wonderful attendant whop, despite the crush of people, and computer issues patiently explored several options with us. He was finally able to book us on a flight that evening to Dulles in Washington the on to Cincinnati, where we wee able to rent a car and drive home. Given the circumstances it was the best alternative. We were very appreciative of his patience and attentiveness to our needs. Well done United.

This was a great flight service was great. The flight was very smooth. I loved flying on the airplane.

The most remarkable aspect of this flight was the captain, whose announcements were actually understandable; dealt with turbulence effortlessly (including one of the slickest landings I've had in 40+ years of international travel notwithstanding crosswinds); and a timely arrival.
Check-in was fairly effortless although United's efforts to automate boarding passes prior to baggage check-in remains clumsy.
Condition of the plane -- a 737-900 -- was superior, perhaps because it appeared to be reasonably new.

Was a little bumpy flying into Aspen, but we bear the storm and a potential diversion, such as to Grand Junction where had to go last year. Return trip was no issue. We had non-stops both ways. Landed early and baggage made it safely. Fly Sun -Thur so was able to fly on miles.

First time flying with United and I will certainly be avoiding flying with them again. Despite a cancelled and shambolic flight outward, I reserved judgement on my return flight. Disappointingly, the flight attendants were abrupt, careless and gave no piece of mind to passenger care whilst on the long haul home. Service was shoddy to say the least, the food pitiful and the standard of the aircraft archaic. Avoid unless desperate!
