“Good flight for local Middle East travel”
Review of Oman Air

Reviewed 4 August 2016

Newer aircraft well maintained. Shorter flights in Middle East on relatively new aircraft. Flight service OK, nothing out of the ordinary. Overall good impression of airline

The journey starts in a confortable lounge a the new Salalah airport. The new Dreamliner offers very confotable seating in business class. The service is very attentive.

Oman air use one of the pay-to-enter lounges at Heathrow. It was very crowded with a limited adult menu containing fish fingers and beans on toast. The aircraft interior felt very dated, tatty and a bit worn out. The entertainment system was old fashioned, slow and had limited choice. The seats/beds were neither generous in size or very comfortable. The food and service was very good but the choice of beverages were very downmarket. Flew with Oman Air years ago and they were excellent. This experience left us with the pervading impression we were unwilling participants in a cost cutting excercise.

Friendly staff, comfortable cabin, no real complaints. A more flexible meal arrangement would be welcomed

Flights from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur to Muscat to Paris

Booking of flight: Done easily via online portal.

Manage booked flight: Could be better. To consider allowing passengers to change seating plan instead as and when, if available, instead of 24 hours before actual flight.

Check-in counter: Counter staff is friendly and tried to accommodate our request to sit together in the same row.

Business Class Lounge at Changi Airport: Not too bad. Good offerings of amenities, food selections and other ground services.

Boarding at Changi Airport Gate: May want to consider using aerobridge instead of having to take a bus to the plane.

Onboard service: Good selection of food available in business class. Cabin crew is friendly and attentive.

Entertainment: May want to consider newer movies.

Transit at Kuala Lumpur: Short 1 hour transit at KL. Got to wait inside the plane while they cleaned the plane for the next flight service from KL to Muscat.

Business Class seat: 1-2-1 configuration. Flat bed with ample space. For flight from Muscat to Paris, we were on their Dreamliner. Configuration is 2-2-2. Although it looks tight and compact, however, there's ample privacy and all passengers have free access to the aisle without having to cross over passenger seated next to you.

Transit at Muscat: Should consider a fast track at Muscat International Airport for transit premium passengers. Security clearance may take a while. Thankfully, luggage is checked in all the way to final destination.

Business Class Lounge at Muscat: Nice lounge with great services and good selection of F&B, wifi and lounge services.

Arrival at Paris: Was given a fast track pass to clear immigration at Paris. This is much appreciated as it can get crowded at Paris airport.

Overall: Great experience with Oman Air in their business class. Will definitely book them again, especially when they have very good promotional price to the European countries.
