Bought 2 plane tickets by telephone from Amsterdam to Zanzibar six months before the actual flight in december 2024. This was because we specifically wanted a flight with a short transfer time of 1 1/2 hours. Everything paid immediately. A few days before the flight departs we receive the plane tickets with a transfer time of !!!9 hours!!! We called KLM directly. The employee said, No worries, you can book a hotel and declare the costs to us KLM, no problem. So this is what we did. We included the visa costs that we had to pay because we had to leave the airport grounds for a hotel. When we returned home we declared the costs to KLM. But we just received this answer: Unfortunately we cannot cover the costs you had to make, because the connecting flight was not operated by KLM.
We booked tickets with KLM from Amsterdam to Zanzibar. So because KLM works with partners who are unreliable, customers have to suffer because of that?
Take into account that there are many EXTRA COSTS when you fly with KLM. A plane tickets cost us 350 EURO EXTRA.
I would also like to add that you hardly get any drinks or food on a flight of more than 9 hours. After 9 hours on the plane with a little water and 1 snack, no breakfast was served in the morning. Apparently things are going very badly for KLM!
