Review of Kenya Airways

The trip was the first leg back from Kenya. Nairobi to Amsterdam. Very good service and attentiveness. Flight Attendants (FA) were welcoming and smiling. Of note: Most passengers, except Business Class were either tourists or business people of original European origin. The food was good. Since it was a morning departure, they served us, oddly, either eggs OR sausage. Wine, Kenyan Beer (the best I think), Hard liquor was served, oddly even for breakfast.
The dinner was a great Fish or Beef Curry - Kenyan-Indian Fusion food. It was good. FAs were efficient and courteous.
When we landed, we were met by armed Koninklijke Marechaussee, The Dutch State Police. That was unnerving to some passengers. They were checking validity of Kenyan passports it seems with special devices. I remember this a few times happening on a KQ but not KLM flights from Nairobi. Of note: The seats are not too comfortable, which is of concern as I am sure these same planes will be making the Nairobi-New York non-stop soon. Entertainment was great, water, juices, booze was available at the back.

Flew CDG to Nairobi and back, first time i’ve paid for business class for leisure travel. It was worth the extra for the space and comfort after a 10 day safari. Food was good, better than in many other business classes, except that there

really should be no skin on chicken meals given the relatively small portions on a plane. In flight entertainment up to date and wide choice. Headsets are a bit annoying the plug is as the plug is under the arm rest and not easily visible when seated. Service efficient and friendly. Only problem was on the way home when one suitcase didn’t make it onto the plane... annoying.

We flew back from a wonderful 2 week stay in Tanzania on Feb 8th 2018 and had a change in Niarobi to board Kenya airline. The staff on this flight, it was clear were having personal issues with each other. We were seated close to the rear of the plane and could clearly hear them arguing throughout the whole flight. They were slow to serve any refreshments on this 8 hour flight and had to be approached by several passengers to get a drink out of them. It was a complete contrast to our flight over with KLM who were constantly serving refreshments and seeing to passengers needs.
At the end of the flight when everyone was seated for landing the one stewardess fell from her seat (why she didn't have her seat belt on we don't know) she then positioned herself in the recovery position upon the floor.

I have reviewed this airline previously for a different flight & I feel I should warn other travelers of what to expect. Their fares are cheap & that makes them the first option for many travelers. The on-board service is quite good & the airport in Nairobi isn't awful. If you travel without check in luggage & aren't pushed for time, then they probably are okay. However, this airline is notorious for losing luggage (Sometimes the whole flight's luggage), the flights get delayed & it doesn't get communicated with you as the passenger. Entertainment systems frequently don't work or are faulty. Trying to get hold of customer care is a mission & when you do, they are quite cold & rude.

In summary, the airline has some good aspects that might lure you, but be aware that you might encounter some unpleasant issues.

Me and my wife have flown with many airlines but this was the worst flight! Night flight no drink offered for 5 hours, staff very unfriendly and the food was awful. Very disappointing and uncomfortable!!
