“Worst airline experience of my entire life terrible customer service”
Review of Copa Airlines

Reviewed 31 May 2024

Absolutely no customer service, first my flight was delayed by an entire day, wasted 2 hours waiting for a plane that wasn’t there to begin with however they didn’t tell anyone. Offered compensation for the delay in taxi fare and hotel. Had to go back out turns out there is another flight sooner that they refused to put me on, in turn to tell me there is no compensation at all. After waiting until the line for this flight was over I come to ask again for compensation because I’ve been waiting 10 hours already and will have to wait 7 more, and they told me to wait after I waited 10 minutes just to talk to someone and have been waiting for 20 minutes after the fact still no one. Not sure what they are doing at this company avoid this airline at any cost

If I had to rank every airline that I've ever flown on, Copa would be dead last. They have you print boarding passes that say "Boarding Pass" at the top in bold letters, but they're not accepted at the gate. Staff is then rude and condescending. At every step of the flight, they're beyond terrible. I'd rather walk, swim, and hitchhike across South America than fly with them again.

I could not fly due to medical illness. I am due a credit for the flight but there is a $75 fee. I provided 2 doctors notes stating I was under the care of a doctor and could not fly as asked so the fee would be waived.
After 3 calls and literally arguing with the last representative named Javier, I am so disappointed in Copa’s service. They tell me I need to provide medical notes telling them my illness, which is completely confidential according to HIPPA.
I asked to speak with a supervisor and was not allowed. I eventually hung up.
Case # 246312 Confirmation # AP3QRK

I have flown on Copa probably 15 round trips and will never again over a $75 fee to be waived.

I bought a flight path from Rio de Janeiro to Bogota(BOG) to Panama City(PTY). At one point, the flight from BOG to PTY was canceled so I called to book a new one. I had to spend an extra $440 for the new flight on top of the original $600 that I already paid for the flight path. Later that night, I was switched back to the original "canceled" flight and not reimbursed for the newly charged $440. I spent hours (and at least 25 separate phone calls) trying to get my money back. They said they would refund me and later went back on that. They then said they would provide a travel voucher and went back on that too. When I continued to fight it, they threatened to completely cancel my flight if I continued to try to dispute the charge through my bank. When I got to Bogota for the layover, I did not even have a ticket on the plane to PTY. When I finally did get to Panama City (on a different airline) and they couldn't mess with my flight anymore, I disputed it one final time and got my money back through my bank since I did not, in fact, have a flight with Copa Airlines.
