We flew with China Southern from Melb-Guangzhou-Beijing, and back Xian-Guangzhou-Melbourne. Good BASIC airline - we weren't expecting much but was ceratinly better than other budget airlines (Jetstar or Tiger); fairly stress free check in from China; meals are basic but only chinese offered and staff unable to explain/translate what was on offer; we found the leg room OK (we are both 180cms tall) and fortunately the occupants in front didn't recline their seats making our experience reasonable.

Pretty average experience. The stewards were very friendly and helpful but the economy seats really are cattle class.

We were a little hesitant to fly China Southern but Tegan @ Flight Centre reassured us and she was right.

We had a really good flight and the staff was kind and helpfull. The only downside was that there was some problem with the food. They asked us to have Chinese snake for breakfast, because they were short on the other option. Really weird to offer snake to European people. Most of the people refused it.

Saw this flight on flight comparison site, booked it , then read reviews,
In fairness if you are 5 foot tall and weigh 10 stone this flight is incredible value , but for me 6 foot plus and 17 stone - horrendous!
The seats are very narrow, hard ,uncomfortable and the legroom for me , " terrible "
The staff excellent, food ok , price
Unbeatable
But the old saying " you only get what you paid for " very true
All I can say is never again!
