China Eastern offers direct flights to Bali and even if it`s a non stop flight it`s more than 6 hours so it was a good choice. Outbound flight was flown on A330 aircraft. Clean as usual on any China Eastern flight, plenty of attentive crew members, nothing to complain of. They have also served wine which is not usual on chinese airlines. Return flight on same aircraft model but surprisingly...no screens, no music, no any entertainment on board !
I am surprise Airbus accepts to deliver such a ridiculous configuration on its aircraft ! Ok, it was a night flight ( departed @ 00.30 ) but...
I`m always happy to fly Cina Eastern if I want to save hours ( they offer no stop flights almost to everywhere ) but this time I was quite perplexed.

Would definitely fly this airline again....Overall, a very comfortable experience. A large selection of movies, food was ok as airlines go.

We took early flight from Beijing to Xi'An. The check in process now requires us to obtain our boarding pass from the automated machine first, before checking in our luggage at the counters, of which people still just do everything at the counters and they still accept it.
The boarding as usual is a long -single line- queue, unless you are in business class. It was bearable, however, since it's not a big plane that we were flying in. The seats were okay and the leg room is quite spacious, even for my husband, who is quite a bigger build than average.
The flight was smooth with a few mild turbulences. Flight attendances were only busy when handing out food and collecting trashes up before the flight is over. The food, which was breakfast, consists of a very runny and bland rice porridge, a sachet of pickled vegetables, a hard bread (which you have to drink water to help to digest it), a little cereal bar, and bottled water. They do have coffee & tea in the kettles, but they don't offer or give to you, unless you ask personally.

And, since, we don't get personal monitor on each seat, there is a mini TV for several rows of seats to look at. They played a cartoon film, of which, if you watch long enough, you know that it is not children-friendly at all! It was filled with violence, lots of criminal acts and smoking. I was not happy at all with that sort of genre, even as an adult to watch. I hate it even more that my son was interested in watching since it is a cartoon!

The flight back in the afternoon, we had the same airlines. Thankfully, they played documentary, instead of the same film. The lunch food was warmer and nicer than the breakfast. We got to choose between chicken or pork dishes. Both were acceptable.

The lavatories on both flights were clean - surprisingly so much improved than the last flights we've had from Beijing to Shanghai.

1. We neded to wait 30 min in the airplane,nobody tell us why,then we take off finally after 30 waiting for nobody to come.
Food is horrible,some overcooked rice with stripes of ? Beef ?,total no taste.
Beverage served very late no apologies for late take off,Coke warm and no ice around.
Stewardess very raw to see,no taking care of us.
Entertainment was just a chinese Comic movie,not able to change and no headset given to anybody.
Happy to get a window seat,was trying to sleep to kill the time,unfortune too many crying kids around,very noisy and again no Stewardess around to calm them down.
Seat dont have neck pillow,head feels not comfortable.
Will consider to take another airline in future.

The business class was very comfortable with flat beds. The service was also very good granted the English skills of the attendents can be a bit bette. Overall it’s was a very pleasant flight at very reasonable price (around $2,000 US) return. I definitely will fly with them again.
