“There are better airlines”
Review of British Airways

Reviewed 4 weeks ago via mobile

Surly staff at check in and on board, insistence on cramming everyone into 3 per row even if the plane is otherwise half empty, the stupid zones system (basically anyone who isn’t in Business gets number 5 and boards last - way to hold up the plane BA, you should be boarding from the back doh), dirty aircraft, laughably extended flight times so they don’t have to pay as much compensation out for properly late flights .. I could go on. Never again.
It would be fewer stars but the flight was cheap because I used some ancient Avios points I acquired years ago.
By the way don’t be fooled into thinking this is a British airline so you should fly with them out of “loyalty.” BA is Spanish.

BA’s policy about seating families is a nonsense! If it weren’t for their usually excellent ground staff and their gate agents (who are also good) then would probably stop flying with them when with my family. What happens is they won’t let you choose your seats when you make your reservation - unless you pay a fee. Then they allocate you separate seats spread around the plane when you check in online for full flights - and you can’t then choose seats together because there aren’t any other seats available. Then at check-in, or at the gate, they have to reallocate various seats to try and get you all back together again. It is madness and leads to a lot of unnecessary stress. Without the efforts of Tina and her colleague at the gate this flight would have been terrible - but in the end we got to sit together and all was well. If it is that much of an issue then just charge the extra in the ticket price - but endlessly gouging people with extra charges is losing them friends and customers - and wasting a lot of time for their hard working staff. A central policy driven by management consultants who don’t understand customers......
Sad - as the actual flight was fine - although be aware that BA flies the two oldest 747s in its fleet on the LHR-CPT route. Here’s hoping they get replaced with an A380 or a 787 soon.

My wife and I travelled Club Europe from Gatwick to Tenerife, a week ago. Under no circumstances will we travel short haul Club class ever again with BA. The seats are no larger than those in economy despite the website stating that there is 30 inches of legroom. BA’s idea of giving passengers extra room in Club class, is to simply block off the middle seat. If we had known wewould be cramped up for four and a half hours then I would not have paid an extra £370 each return, simply for an meal and a couple of free drinks. The legroom on some of the low cost airlines provide more space and when my wife mentioned this to the stewardess, she simply laughed and said “I know”. This is a total ripoff by BA who should hang their heads in shame at such a low method of generating extra income. We have travelled with BA on numerous long haul flights in Club World which is a totally different experience.

We travelled to JFK on BA. We were lucky enough to be in row 40, so we were at the bulkhead and had lots of room. They didn’t seem to stop bringing food out, even ice creams. Drinks were plentiful although you had to go and request them from the crew. A really great flight which far exceeded our expectations. The crew were great too! We’ll definitely fly BA again :)

Have always flown BA but will now consider other airlines. This flight could be described as just adequate. Seats were uncomfortable, the in-flight equipment did not work, the food was poor and the service provided was dreadful. The best bit of the flight was getting off at Gatwick. Perhaps we will use Virgin next time. One final point was the aircraft had not been cleaned, I found items in my seat area including someones tablets. If this is the standard BA feels justifies the price of Business Class Service then they are fooling themselves and we the flying public will vote with our feet and use other airlines. THE WORLD'S FAVORITE AIRLINE REALLY???
