The flight was delayed about 20 minutes, but we arrived in Charlotte about 9:15. The Charlotte airport only had 1 checkpoint with about 400 people in line. We had to grab our bags from the bag claim, take them to the connect bag area, stand in the long check point line and try to make our 10:30 flight. We got to out connecting flight at 10:32 and were not allowed to board. We had to rebook a flight for the morning 7:55am. They would not offer any voucher for overnight stay so we had to sleep on the floor and on the chairs in the airport. There were 5 of us 4 adults and 1 child, only Chic filet and some barbecue place was open and Chic filet ran out of food so had to eat old barbecue yuck! Every employee we encountered along the way was rude with nasty attitudes except for the flight attendants.

This is the worst airline. I was traveling with 5 other people including my wheelchair bound mother, a toddler and another tender aged child. We were stuck in Tampa due to lightning strikes ten miles away. We missed our connecting flight in Charlotte NC. Kept being told that we were about to take off. Sat on the plane for just shy of 4 hours. Only to have Frontier Airlines bump us on the tarmac and delayed us even longer. We were directed to Customer Service. What a joke that was. No help given. Was told there was nothing they could do. Couldn’t get us another flight for 16 hours. I had to rent another vehicle and get two hotel rooms with no reimbursements allowed. Not to mention that I am an Advantage Plus member and airline credit card holder. I would have been better off flying with Frontier or Spirit airlines who have direct flights and paying the extra fees for baggage instead of the aggravation that we just experienced. Worst customer service I have ever dealt with. If I was able to give 0 stars that’s what I would have done. I cannot believe the level of rudeness that we experienced on this trip. From customer service down to the desk agents. There is zero compassion for travelers who are disabled or those with young children. My mother and two grandchildren were absolutely exhausted. The kids were crying. The agents at customer service worked at a snails pace only to be told that they couldn’t help and I would have to pay for the hotel and transportation to and from the hotel as well as figure out somewhere to go for hours after checking out from the hotel. We have no wheelchair for my mother because we were utilizing the airport handicap service. Needless to say I will be canceling my Airline credit card and will never fly with American again. I would rather pay double for my trip with another airline than to experience what we just went through again.

Absolutely HORRIFIC, NIGHTMARISHLY BAD Experience flying American Airlines. DO NOT USE THIS AIRLINE if you appreciate your sanity. I couldn't give them a worse rating -1/10 is my rating for them. Every single thing that could differentiate and airline from another, is an absolute abject failure with American Airlines. I am convinced they are the worst, most horribly and incompetently run airline in the world. Not a joke....
Stay away, you've been warned.....

Although I was at gate an hour before departure, I fell asleep (medical 😴 reasons) they didn't try to awaken. They just said it was not their responsibility. Flight left without me. It was a really soul changing trip for me. Evil company incarnate!

They made us wait for 6 hour and give flight for the next day we had emergency at home to finish but couldn’t able to go this is ridiculous..!
