“Good flights but...”
Review of American Airlines

Reviewed 4 weeks ago

This flight and our connecting flight AA 1252 from Dallas to Sacramento were almost identical. Both flights were full and had on time arrivals. In both cases boarding could have been much better. The boarding areas were congested and the "gate fleas" crowded around the lanes designated for boarding by zone. The zones were called quickly but the line backed up in the jet way. On both flights our tray tables were dirty and sticky. The flight attendants were pleasant but on these 4 and 3 1/2 hour flights
there was only one beverage service and additional water was not offered. On a more positive note the luggage came quickly in Sacramento.

We were delayed for about half an hour on the ground partly due to 7 snowflakes floating around which prompted a call for de-icing. Haha! The flight attendants were so-so, not very friendly. Doesn't sound like I should be giving even a 3-star average rating, right? Well, the pilot made up the delay in the air and got us home about 10 minutes late (that's on time in my book). That made up for the other below-average experiences.

Except for the stupid $25 baggage fee, the flights from San Diego to Havana and back were without drama. The days of offering you food are long gone, and the coffee on the plane is terrible but other than that, things were fine.

This was our flight home from a quickie trip back east for a wedding and family visit. Boarding went OK, even with this flight apparently being full, and we pushed off from the gate on time. Cabin service, such as it is these days in steerage, was good.

One interesting thing was that because of when we landed at LAX (about 1830) there were no gates open at which to park the plane. As such, we stopped at some distance from the American terminal, deplaned via a set of ramps, and were then loaded on to buses and driven over to the terminal. No biggie, this was just the first time I experienced this at LAX. Flying out of Burbank, they used to have us board and exit on stairways.

Overall a decent flight. I haven't flown American in years secondary to extraordinarily lousy experiences with them in the past, but this went OK; I'd consider American again in the future

Sav to PHL was okay but then flights to Quebec were cancelled due to weather. Agents booked me to Toronto and then on to Quebec. However the Toronto flight was late so I got there after the Quebec flight had departed . Had to find a hotel on my own after midnight.
Flew to Quebec next morning. American was apologetic but offered no compensation or apologies.
