“Don't Believe the Angry People”
Review of Aer Lingus

Reviewed 4 weeks ago

It was fine. We fly routinely with Alaska Airlines and Delta. We saw a bunch of negative reviews about AerLingus, based on those reviews we were actually worried the plane would simply fall from the sky because it was such a piece of crap.
Jesus people, relax.
This is an economy flight, it costs a bit less than other flights.
It's not Emirates or Singapore Airlines- you get what ya pay for.

Our flight from Seattle to Dublin, non-stop, was on an Airbus 330.
Seats were the same size as a standard Boeing737 flight.
Want a bigger seat?
Pay more money, it's called capitalism.
I'm 6'3", and yes it was a bit cramped.
There were also multiple empty seats, and the crew gladly let us move around for more room.

Food was average airline stuff, nothing great, but not prison-food slop either.
Dinner was chicken and rice or beef stew and rice.
The breakfast sandwich was actually pretty good, they hand those out roughly 2-3 hours prior to landing.
Yes, they came with tea or coffee.
Flight attendant also introduced me to Gunpowder Irish gin, good stuff.

Someone else complained they almost died from thirst, couldn't get a drink of water to save their life.
WTF?
Plenty of water to drink, served by a nice polite crew.

We did notice that every person we dealt with, from check-in to final goodbye, was pretty nice.
They weren't giving out hugs and high-fives, but they were nice and polite.
Can't say the same for some other airlines.

Overall, flight was fine, it was much less than some other flights.
Don't believe the 'bots or that angry guy that got picked on when he was young and now he's a keyboard warrior.
Aerlingus flight from Seattle to Dublin was about a 6/10.
Have fun!

This is the worst first class I have ever traveled on. Terribly small uncomfortable seats. Noisy. Bad food. I have flown a lot, and have never written a review, so I’m not a complainer. I will NEVER fly with Air Lingus again.

Used Alaska Air partner miles to book our first and last trip with Aer Lingus and problems immediately started at SeaTac when the staff working the check-in counter did not know what day it was and insisted our bags could not be checked through to Madrid, even though we were in Dublin for only 18 hours. We were ultimately successful getting the staff to acknowledge the calendar and clock, and that our layover time in Dublin did not require us to retrieve our bags in Dublin, but what a debacle after an already lengthy wait in line.

The plane from SEA to DUB was very old. The entertainment system was essentially useless. Seats were uncomfortable. Food served on board was awful. The cabin was absolutely freezing, so much so my teeth were chattering at one point. Flight crew was taking a break to sleep and only addressed the problem once they were returned to the cabin again. As is typical when flying overnight to Europe, breakfast was served before arrival but no option for coffee or tea. Just water. Seriously? Flight from DUB to MAD was nicer but no food options and you have to pay for coffee.

The only reason this review gets 2 stars is because the staff on both flights were very friendly but obviously constrained as far as what they were able to offer given the age of the plane and Aer Lingus policies.

We will not fly Aer Lingus again and would not recommend to others.

My family of (5) are traveling from Dublin to IAD in December (this was not a drop down option). One of the family members needed to cancel the flight. I spoke with a representative about the cancellation. She was happy to help me. She said I could have a tax refund or voucher. I agreed to the tax refund and literally less than a minute later, I regretted that decision and said I'd prefer a voucher. To which she responded that was not possible, that the refund (which takes 7-10 business days to process) was completed. I said of course you can... "not our policy". I certainly understand if I called back in a few days to make this request, but a moment later. Shame on Aer Lingus, this is the kind of thing that makes us all HATE the airlines.

The worst airline experience in 20 years, which includes Ryan Air, Volotea, Vueling, Delta, Air France, Lufthansa, and others. Bad food, terribly uncomfortable seats, surly service, and the check in staff is all contract labor at the Seattle terminal. Low bidder got the business. Terribly incompetent.

Friends flew in the business cabin and fared no better. Chose this airline because of nonstop service. I'll connect twice before I fly with these people again.
