Wednesday 18th of October and our return Thomas Cook flight TM1721 to Stanstead was due to depart from Rhodes Airport at 19.30 and scheduled flying time was 4 hours and 15 minutes. The captain did announce that the flying time would be 3 hours 50 minutes. It actually did take off on time, that was the best bit about the flight.
The cabin service followed much of the same routine as the outward flight on 11th October. There was a drinks round early on in the flight and another towards the end and the sale of tax free goods.
We also purchased food at the airport and brought it on board rather than buy what was on offer on the aircraft.
The legroom was, yet again was on the stingy side, cramming in as many seats as possible. My seat was less comfortable as it was broken and did not recline. Reported it to a member of the Cabin Crew who advised it would be reported to the engineer team on landing. Not sure if this happened as the seat number or row was was not checked.
There was a slight variation from the outward flight, there were drop down screens from the overhead lockers showing some in flight entertainment. There was a charge of £3 for headsets or £2 for an adapter to use own headset. The entertainment, in the loosest term, consisted of American sitcoms, never heard of and old Disney cartoons, Pluto and Donald Duck etc. The cabin crew constantly forgot to reset the player when an item had finished.
The flight landed at 21.20 it was actually due to land at 21.45 (25 minutes early). Although we landed early we did not get to the stand till 21.40 as there was nobody to direct the plane to the stand, also there was one to operate the gangway (appreciate not the airlines fault). Added to this we did not collect our cases till 22.20 despite the fact they were unloading them as we were still on the aircraft. All added to a rather dismissal experience.
