Our flights via Trailfiders UK were booked all the way through on the assumption of 30Kg baggage allowance per person for two people travelling ie 60Kg total allowance. This was particularly important given we were travelling with scuba dive gear - two dive bags and one suitcase each approx 20Kg. Departing Heathrow on Singapore Airlines our baggage allowance was added together without any problem.

We spent a few days in Cairns before setting off on an internal Virgin Australia flight to Melbourne. Imagine our surprise to discover that our 60Kg joint allowance was now calculated per person rather than in total and, given the 3 items of luggage each approx 20Kg, we were automatically deemed to be 10Kg over weight and charged Au$70 excess baggage!!!!

Do not get on board this plane hungry or thirsty because you have to pay for everything, including regular non-alcoholic beverages. Unfortunately I didn’t eat beforehand and purchased what they call a ‘Ham & Cheese’ sandwich - BRUTAL!!! I could have used the bread as a weapon it was so hard.

The planes are very old, not well kept and the service is terrible. I will steer clear of this airline in the future.

I booked my flights on Expedia thinking I was booking Air NZ but as Virgin Aus is in the star alliance they do some flights for air NZ.
There is no in flight entertainment at all unless you download their app.
The service is like a cheap Jet star flight . the flight attendants didn't give a stuff and the best thing about the flight was getting off the small crappy plane
