We booked one of the first flights on this new Winair route Curacao-St. Maarten. We found it an amzing delight, compared to the service we were used to at flights served bij Insel Air on this route. We were so disappointed by endless Insel Air ('cancelair') delays in the past.

Winair rents a MD82 from PAWA Dominicana with crew to operate this flight. The flight time is a little more than one hour (compared to over two hours with Insel Air), The flight left a little before shedule and landed 20 minutes before the estimated 1.5 hour flight time. As the plane was less than half occupied we had plenty of space, the PAWA crew was very friendly. We hope Winair will keep this service a little longer.

SXM Princess Juliana International Airport is great in the morning (when there are no crowded US/European planes); we went through customs, got our luggage and were outside within 15 minutes after landing. Another delight compared to Curacao;)

As we arrived at the St. Maarten Airport to connect on through to Saba, we collected our bags and proceeded to check them with the Winair attendant. She was on her cell phone having a personal conversation with someone about things they did a day previous. She did not get off the phone. She processed our bags and it took everything for her to respond to a few questions we had inbetween talking with the person on the other end. She was extreemly preoccupied and rude to us. We left there with a couple of hours to wait for our flight and a bit uneasy that things were done correctly. We were travelling with 2 small children. The transportation from the airport to the plane was great, the people helping us were very helpful, took our stroller and tucked it in the back of the plane and were most helpful with our little ones. They gave us the infant buckle and made sure we were using it properly. Our flight to Saba was uneventful, although the landing was one of the scariest I've been on, (but I was prewarned!) the pilots were amazing in putting that little plane down on a 400 M runway, and once off the plane the people there were most helpful once again with our luggage and small children.

If you like employees who say 'I'll kill you', intentionally delay flights and cost you money, WinAir is for you. Using WinAir cost us $4K. Just know, WinAir = BAD, if you can, take ferry instead!

We were booked on a 225pm flight (Thu April 13th) from StBarth to StMaarten to connect to a 405 pm flight to Charlotte on American Airlines, plenty of time under the recommended transfer times (90mins), which even seems excessive for a 10 minute hop. We got to the small StB airport with plenty of time but soon realized that flights were delayed. Important to know that WinAir DOES NOT have an agreement with American, so they will take no responsibility for any delays and if you miss your connection. When I and a fellow passenger inquired about the status of our flight, a WinAir thug (black dude with an eye patch), responded by saying "I'll kill you the next time you get to StBarth." To make things worse, when we got onto the plane, the same thug refused to let the flight leave because a woman on our flight filmed him yelling at her, because she wanted to know where her luggage was.

End result, we had to stay over in St Maarten for a night ($400) and book completely new flights ($3.2K), pay extra for meals, taxis ($400),etc...
