This was our 24th cruise sailing with a variety of lines and our first with Cunard. We regularly waited for an hour to be served our main course in the Brittania restaurant , which arrived at best, warm. Cleanliness in the Royal Court theatre was poor. Crew were generally unhelpful. Entertainment programme was only salvaged by the excellent Blackthorn Duo. We will never use Cunard again.…

Lovely cruise, great value - again. We had a lovely time on the QM2. Not sure why I read the reviews sometimes... some are a bit 'grumpy'. Our embarkation was quick and seamless. The Britannia food and service was fine. Potentially 3 good meals a day, and AfterNoon Tea and snacks and Room service all included. The entertainment and activities ( all optional ) were great; again all free. Our cabin was fine, a comfy bed, TC, shower etc., and good Steward Service. I liked Cunard Radio and the real-time map. And the lounges, and the Atrium and the Library and on deck. The breakfast pancakes are delicious and the ship, still stunning. Kings Court, by definition, is busy. But we always found a table and service was fine. I can see see where some corners have been cut, but,,, value for money is amazing. We both had a very happy time. Looking forward to the nexr QM2 adventure.…

Had a most disappointing cruise to Lisbon and Vigo in a grills suite. Embarkation was dreadful, kept in a small crowded area with no seats for one and a half hours as we arrived at the correct time and were priority boarding. Only one speaker for three sea days and very poor entertainment in the evening. No decent music. Only one news channel and old programs on BBC on tv. Platinum reception was very crowded. We have both returned ill, I have a chest infection and my wife has a severe stomach upset. We were fine before went away.…

Positives - the grandeur of the QM2 is quite stunning, a world of art deco with all the implied privilege of a bygone age. Our stateroom, an enclosed balcony, was excellent, spacious, a very comfortable bed and perfectly serviceable bathroom. The ship was immaculately clean throughout. The lifts were not only equisitely beautiful, they also functioned efficiently - it was a mystery as why you rarely had to queue or wait! Embarkation was well organised both on shore days and at the end of the cruise. Evening service, we opted for open dining, was excellent. Negatives - food in the flagship Brittania Restaurant was disappointing. Underwhelming, often bland and far removed from the elaborate menu descriptions. The buffet restaurant - King's Court - was truly awful. Chaotic and shabby with uncleared tables, a disorganised scramble around the food service areas and, oddly, no bar/drinks service other than self service soft drinks. We couldn't believe this was QM2 standard! And for coffee lovers .. the coffee throughout the ship ranged from poor to diabolical! The QM2 seemed overcrowded ... it was never easy to find seats/table in the dining, bars or entertainment areas, the only exception being open dining in the Brittania restaurant. This really needs to be looked at. Unfortunately the daily entertainment programme was not to our liking, lacking variety and range in that it was mainly aimed at an older, sedentary clientele, a niche we did not really fit in to. Regarding add-ons - the wi-fi was ridiculously expensive, as was the drinks package which we would advise you view with great caution as most of the drinks menu is excluded from the package! On balance we were glad we went, it was a unique experience, but it could have been SO much better! Would we travel with Cunard again? Sadly not. We think there are far better alternatives.…

Or it would have if it had not become part of Carnival's global ruth!ess money making machine. Gentle reader. Forgive me if you will for using this post to air my grievance. Advised to email Customer Services by Pursers Office onboard or await an after cruise survey by a third party survey-bot, both of which are a waste of pixels, this is my only way to be heard. The issue. Without warning the excellent shuttle service at Lisbon was axed. Presumeably to save money. They replaced it with two 8 seat mini buses. The return trip to town takes best part of an hour due to congestion. Taxis having queued for a fare will only take tour trips. They will not do trips into town. The ship has 3000 odd passengers, mostly elderly and mobility compromised. The queue was horrendous. The lame the halt and the weary forced to stand in line. No seating. After one and a half hours my lovely 84 year old wife collapsed. Nobody from the ship to assist us. We were abandoned. At this point disipline broke down. Passengers began shouting and pushing. It was as far from cruising chic as you can get. This was cruising hell. What lunatic thought two mini buses were adequate? What lunatic thought a mini bus was appropriate transport for disabled people. The minj bus driver said they were ready willing and able to provide a proper service but the ship would not pay for it.…
