We are staying at this village at the end of Feb, and wondered how easy it will be to buy food locally without hiring a car. Will eat in the on site restaurant some of the time, but any advice would be appreciated.

It's about 2-3 km to the nearest supermarket called Hillamarket. An easy walk, I wouldn't hire a car just for that.

You could ask if they at Gulo Gulo have a sledge to loan. It would be easier to carry your groceries. Or you can buy one, they don't cost more than a couple of euros.
Thanks that's great.
Were the food there expensive? We are going to stay there in late March for two nights, but only two people! :)
we are also staying there at the end of February and have been advised that our transfer bus from the airport stops off at a supermarket on the way to Gulo Gulo to allow you to pick up essentials. Check to see if yours does too
It's a normal grocery store where locals do their groceries, it's not designed for tourists, so they'll have less specifically imported (and expensive) goods than the supermarkets in the ski resorts such as Levi.
