My wife and I are spending 2 weeks in Portugal soon and are looking at spending a day hiking the Rota Vincenta. Planning to stay in Vila Nova de Milftones, hike to Almograve and then find transport back to Vila Nova for the night. Is there regular bus service from Almograve to Vila Nova de Milfontes? Or is there another inexpensive method of travel?

Bus service is very sparse in that area with nothing at all at weekends.
There are three buses each weekday between Almograve and Vila Nova de Milfontes. Timetable here

I do not know where in Almograve they stop and the bus company website does not have a map. So best ask around when you get there.
A taxi would cost app € 30,-
the busses of rede expresso from Almograve to Porto covo also stop in Vilanova de mil fontes

Usually used only where the bus waits a few minutes somewhere or at the start and finish of the run.

67 helpful votes If you decide upon the Rede Expressos bus at 0830 either buy your ticket on line or go to their local ticket agent the day before. You cannot buy their tickets on board.
