You dont need to buy specialised clothing for your safari trip ( Primark,BHS, debenhams also matalan is worth a look) The ladies, Cargo type trousers, a couple of plain cap sleeved T-shirts or vests, but also a cotton button up blouse to go over the t-shirt/vests to cover the arms to save getting burnt (also polite to cover bare shoulders sometimes) a light jumper for the night time or early morning drives - but no bright colours as the animals can see you before you see them ha ha no special shoes needed. A hat that you can tie on, Asda/tesco have them, also dont forget your swimming gear as most of the lodges have pools & will also provide towels - Men as you say are easy ha ha , long trousers, type that zip off to shorts are good but dont go out of your way to buy any if you dont have, tshirts & casual long sleeved shirts - nite time is smart casual wear you dont have to dress up - Hoped it helped - Relax & enjoy you will have a fantastic time.

As shamba has said the cheaper the better. Remember it is a Safari - not a fashion parade.

Whatever you wear will get very dusty during the day.

If, as you say, you will not be going on Safari again (unless you get the bug) give the clothes you use on Safari to the Hotel staff- they will be very happy to take and use them.

Hi Doffcocker,

You always do a great job of helping people (thank you).

As a suggestion, you might consider adding this

information to your "What to Pack for Safari FAQ":

Avoid dark blue and black (attracts Tsetse flies and more mosquitoes).

Avoid camouflage clothing, as it is illegal in Kenya.
