Ladies Bike

I'm reading about blue bike Geel €10 euro membership a year for 2 bikes. In some towns €1 a day, downside is you have to take it back everyday and walk home or it's €3.

Alternative buy or borrow 2nd hand bike. Where can I find one for sale or loan

Unless you are coming here to take up residence, you can't become a Blue Bike member anyway, because for this you have to give (local) ID card & bank details for monthly statements and you can only pay by direct debit or bank card (= Bancontact). I know it gives several countries to select from for the address details under "personal information", but you will then find that a 5-digit social security number is required, for which it only accepts a valid BSN = BELGIAN (or possibly Dutch) national registration number!

I don't know who you think would "lend" a bike to someone they don't know, but there are 2 other bike rental places in Geel listed on www.geel.be/productgroep.aspx?pg=1183&id=1042 and you can also rent from this place in Mol for €10/day: fietsenatelier.be/pages/aanbod_verhuur_dames… (they will deliver to Geel).

The same place also sells 2nd hand bikes: fietsenatelier.be/pages/aanbod_verkoop_tweed… as does this protected workshop in Geel itself: opzgeel.be/nl/rehabilitatie/htm/ateliers.asp

Otherwise, private sales of 2nd hand bikes mostly take place over the internet e.g. http://www.2dehands.be/fietsen/ - or see http://www.bikemarket.be/city/antwerpen/ - there are also occasional second-hand-bike markets held in Antwerp, this was in September but you can look out for another: thisisantwerp.be/…

Finally, I believe some bike shops like this one in Antwerp http://www.abakri.be/ allow you to buy a new bike from them on the understanding that they will buy it back from you when you leave e.g. 6 months later. But I don't know how interesting that might be pricewise.

Hi

There is a Decathlon at Olen (just outside Geel) that might be worth looking at for new bikes.
