Mount Abu and Udaipur - 4 days - need planning advise

Hi.

We (myself, wife and 2 yrs daughter) are planning to visit Mount Abu and Udaipur for total 4 days in Feb. We have decided on the following plan. Please let me know if this is do-able.

11 Feb:

1. Arrive in Mount Abu at 12pm (train from Delhi).

2. Reach hotel (most probably Bikaner House) and take lunch etc.

3. Visit nearby Dilwara temples at around 3 - 4pm

4. Then go to Nakki late, sunset point, local shopping and come back to hotel around 9-10 pm

12 Feb:

1. Around 9 am leave for Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh. Visit the temples and fort there.

2. Arrive Udaipur in evening.

13 and 14 Feb:

We will have two days in Udaipur (13th and 14th). Please suggest an itenirary for that. Our train leaves at 7pm from Udaipur to Delhi.

Thanks !!

12th Feb. Looking at Google maps this is 235km and they estimate 4 hours driving time. It is possible to do in a day but you are going to have to watch how much time you spend in Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh.

The Jain temples at Ranakpur are closed until 12 o'clock so the Jain community can carry out their ceremonies and prayers in privacy without tourists swarming around and taking pictures.

So do the fort at Kumbhalgarh first. It is going to take about two and a half hours to drive there. There is a lot to see here and you could easily spend several hours visiting the different temples, climbing up to the palace ruins and walking along the wall. Our pictures are here:

Our pictures of Ranakpur are here:

If you are not intending to take a lot of pictures you can probably estimate 30-60minutes to see the temples.

Ranakpur to Udaipur will take about 90minutes to drive.

Thanks EESW and UdaipurMagic for your inputs. Which of these Udaipur hotels will be better in terms of central location - Mahendra Prakash or Jagat Niwas ? We read reviews and both seem ok. We also read about Jaiwana Haveli but the rooms were little too basic.

We would like easy walking (5min) to markets , restaurants to be on priority since we have a 2 year child and cannot walk much.

We are also considering Hotel Raj Niwas (http://www.hotelrajniwas.com/index.html) along with Mahendra Prakash and Jagat Niwas. Please let me know which one is better.

We stayed at http://www.kankarwahaveli.com/ a few years ago - ask for a room with a lake view. Wonderful!

I think it's virtually next to the Jagat Niwas, where we ate one night. Lovely food.

Lucky you - enjoy!

@Asheesh,

There is no proper Bus connection for mt.abu- ranakpur- kumbhalgarh- udaipur.

There us good road and fast connection between mt abu- udaipur.

You may do Via Bus mt abu- jaswant Garh.- ranakpur- udaipur by changing Buses. You waste your time. And Hard to do kumbhalgarh by bus. becouse of timing and no bus goes up to fort.you need to hire jeep.

Suggest you to do mt Abu - udaipur by direct bus

And hire a small car for kumbhalgarh ranakpur excursion .

Or just do excursion ranakpur by bus udaipur- ranakpur- udaipur
