4 Days in Hvar - Whats worth it and how to do it?

On a longer trip, we (2 couples in late 20's) are spending 4 days (3.5 non travel) on Hvar. So what is the best way to enjoy Hvar? This is what I have thought about based on reading.

- Vineyards: Are there many options? Do the wine tastings come packaged as a meal if we want?

- Olive Oil - Is olive oil a Hvar thing or on the main land? Tours/orchards.... not the oil itself.

- Explore the island: We are not scooter people, so sticking to a car is best, maybe a Jeep or convertible for fun. Is this recommended for a day? How much is there to see on your own?

- Island hopping: While we are on an island, we know we must spend some time off it, on the water, exploring. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced boat rental? Preferably with a skipper. Is it a must to book in advance, or can we find someone? How much would it cost?

Are we only looking at the Pakleni Islands, or is there more?

- Blue Grotto - is this the same as the blue cave? Is it worth it or just a tourist attraction because some light shines through a hole?

Restaurant recommendations?

Nightlife? Any Recommendations? Is Hula Hula very rowdy?

Anything would be helpful!

Wines - yes, and there are numerous wine tours on offer, from those lasting 3 hours to whole day tours.

Olive oil not so much - but Hvar is world famous for its lavender fields and production of lavender oil!!!

Restaurants: Dalmatino (#1 restaurant in Hvar, email them to put your name down), Mizarola (great pizza), BB Club (great breakfast), Golden Shell (fabulous fresh pasta and seafood)

Definitely do a boat tour. We had prebooked the Ilirio's 3 Cave tour and loved it. It's not private, but it's a small boat, I think there were maybe 8 of us total. This includes a visit to the Blue Cave (I'm not sure if this is the same as the "Blue Grotto"), which is an extra cost and you have to wait your turn to go in the cave. However since you're going in September, I imagine it would be a lot less crowded. We loved the boat tour so much we booked a private tour with Nautica Adventures as well. We booked once we were there and had no issues. I can't remember how much it cost, but it was reasonable for our private (awesome) boat for the entire day, complete with skipper who took us anywhere we wanted. I'd highly recommend both.

Clubs and bars shouldn't be rowdy in September. I wouldn't even say they were that rowdy this past week. Just returned from there. Just fun. If you like jazz, there may still be singers at the park club and vintage wine bar just past Dalmatino on the same street is a nice place to go. Spend some time exploring the town, especially at night. The back alleys are quite magical. Another restaurant recommendation, Grande Luna. Had a really nice meal there, second to Dalmatino on ambience.

I wrote a 2 day itinerary for Hvar that I believe includes many of the activities you’ve suggested! I would definitely rent a Jeep or 4x4 for a day and explore a few beaches and make a stop at Tomic winery! It was one of our favorite days of our entire trip to Croatia. We went in May and Hula Hula was not rowdy at all. I believe it gets so in July/August, but you can always walk by and if it’s not your speed, head somewhere else. It’s located on a lovely trail along the water and is a great place for sunset!

Thanks, I may do the private boat with Skipper. It's only a like 200 euros. There are 4 of us.

Book in advance, or can I find someone there?
